The instructions for breaking the hex were rather simple - all the group had to do was get Rehmeyer’s “Long Lost Friend” witchbook and burn it or get a lock of his hair and bury it six feet underground. So they killed him and tried to burn the house down…

Ninety-seven years ago tonight, on November 27, 1928, a troubled trio set out for the home of Pennsylvania powwow doctor Nelson Rehmeyer - a folk magic healer who the boys believed had placed a curse upon them.

Favorites include “Biological Anomalies: Humans I: A Catalog of Biological Anomalies,” “Dark Days, Ice falls, Firestorms and Related Weather Anomalies,” and “Unfathomed Mind: A Handbook of Unusual Mental Phenomena.”

It took FOREVER, but I finally pieced together all 32 volumes (plus some associated titles) in William Corliss’ massive-in-size-and-scope Science Frontiers Sourcebook Project.

Happy Flatwoods Monster Day - 73 years ago in Braxton County, Virginia, some folks saw a flash of light in the sky and had an encounter with the Monster.

Here are my original 1960s/1970s and modern Flatwoods Monster lanterns and wood from the tree behind which the creature allegedly emerged.
