"To assure their continued support, each suburban area was given virtual veto power over the placement and alignment of route within its boundaries. Thus, Alexandria's demand that the Huntington section south of the city be given direct service was written into the plan adopted in 1968. William Murin claims a racial motivation but provides no footnote, and I don't fully trust his account. I think the bigger picture is that when you run a line to secure cheap right-of-wayβ€”be it the Penn Central tracks or the Dulles Access Highway medianβ€”you have to compromise on station locations.

Not satisfied with just destroying their own brand goodwill, OS companies are now using AI to try to destroy the good names of the apps users install. (Scrivener taking out adds to explain how it has no AI but Apple adds some anyway.)

Cutting Federal Transit Funding Won’t Fix Budget Shortfalls. But It Would Make Transportation Less Affordable for Americans. A proposal to eliminate federal public transit funding would not only fail to address the existing funding gap but would also leave millions of Americans, pa…

Trump Administration is to propose a massive cut in federal transit funding as part of 2026 transport legislation.

This proposal would decimate the nation's transit systems, while not actually solving the revenue problem federal transportation funding faces.

POLITICO Pro: Trump administration proposals seek to eliminate transit funding DOT recently sent two proposals to the White House budget office seeking to pare back transit money.

Trump Admin is planning to ask Congress to dramatically cut funding for transit as part of the 2026 infrastructure law.

The proposal would eliminate the transit account, which funds billions of dollars in capital expenses. It would also prevent states from β€œflexing” roads funds for transit.
