Having just come back from excavating at the former Warsaw ghetto, my answer is: the third (missing) #Ringelblum Archive, currently thought to be under the Chinese embassy in Warsaw.

The German Underground Hospital in Guernsey is where it tends to happen. People have reported sightings, sounds, voices, smells, lights, wartime radio, the appearance of the resident ghost Fritz … similar stories across the islands in German bunkers. I’ve written a couple of articles about it …

Totally! But @gabemoshenska.bsky.social story was certainly the weirdest. Actually I have some serious ghost stories from the Channel Islands, where people report all sorts of encounters with ghosts of German soldiers. Serious intangible heritage. Had my own experiences too …

Very unfortunately, I didn’t share the communal dream. But I certainly get dreams / nightmares on digs about what I’m digging, but that’s WWII archaeology for you. Always being chased by Nazis …

This is where it gets a bit unfortunate to do fieldwork at WWII sites …

When I was digging at Trimontium as an undergrad, we found a Bronze Age burial. That night, loads of the team had the same dream about the person whose burial we found.

I was like ‘I found an - oh. Never mind.’

What an honour to meet the Princess Royal and what a morning at Windsor Castle!

Looks like it’s an ink pot (still haven’t worked out the company) and this has a whole special resonance given our earlier conversation about the Ringelblum archive.

This little chap has showed up and on the base, one of the words is ‘London’. Can anyone work out the other word and therefore what this company made and the contents of the bottle?

It’s fascinating this end too!
