Actually, Disco did become a shared experience with my nongaming partner. We’d lounge on the couch talking through choices, reacting to the story, and debating next steps.

The idea that all free time must be “shared” is absurd. Adults are allowed solitary hobbies, whether it’s gaming, reading, or just staring at a wall.

If your argument is “you owe every waking minute to others,” then nothing is justified- not books, not TV, not even a long shower.

Tbh this is nonsense on the same level as “missiles are phallic because of the patriarchy.”

The idea conservativism is only due to selective mortality ignores the reality people become more conservative with age due to shifting priorities, nostalgia, and a growing desire for stability.

I mean sometimes people just do things because of vibes or short sightedness. Not everything vaguely non- left-wing needs some kremlin puppetmaster pulling the strings. Guess that thinking makes me a kremlin troll.

Imo earlier series like TNG thrived on an escapist optimistic vision of the future, where humanity overcame its flaws to explore the cosmos with cooperation and moral clarity.

I just don't believe anyone wanted this grimdark ST, focused on conflict, convoluted plots and interpersonal strife.
