Any idea why the FO is so insistent on the TO and waiving the NTC? I'm kinda stumped as to any reason why they'd want to build in that way to get out of the 2026-27 salary. Besides the fit failing even more, only thing I can think of is that it could help them open up the NTMLE?

SF, please help me find my dog. She was lost by her sitter in the mission. But when she escaped 2 years ago, she made it all the way to Golden Gate Park. She is very sweet but very shy.

I am very worried about her getting hurt while she’s loose.

Recognition of Palestinian statehood is not enough when it comes to Gaza The UK and Europe must take action, not stick with mere symbolic gestures

β€œIsrael is the occupying power, and the Palestinians are an occupied people. Recognition of their right to self-determination is not a concession to be negotiated, but a legal obligation whose urgency has only deepened in light of the evolving situation on the ground.”

Recognizing Palestinian statehood is good, but it won't matter if there are no people left to inhabit the state. End the war. Free Palestine. And sanction USrael so they can't do it again

A Scheduling Proposal for the NBA Β· Ford Higgins' Blog

Unfortunately NBA expansion has had cold water thrown on it recently, but still sharing my idea for how to fix the (post-expansion) schedule. Takes a nudge from Euro soccer and has less emphasis on legislating the players directly, more focus on the system

Read anything and everything by @sarahkendzior.bsky.social, but on this grim topic, her third book, "They Knew," is particularly on point.

The gist is:
- expand to 32 teams
- each team plays a home & home w/ every other team for the RS
- 8 team pods for IST. Again H&H. Games don't count for RS record, allowing teams to allocate PT how they want
- top 2 teams in each pod go to single elim tourney
- result: 76-80 games per team

Where'd you see the improved offer? Did it say if it included the team option or him waiving the NTC?

Good piece. Captured some of my concerns on the defensive end. He might be pretty locked in to the 4 spot on defense, which seems like a tough spot for a team. But yeah the offense might be special. Definitely curious how that high arcing shot translates. This makes me a bit more bullish

Feels like GS just needs to ditch the team option part of the deal so they can get something like 2 for $45M signed and move on to figuring out how to deal him in January or February since that's clearly their goal

2. is there a way to compare it to their normal standing hip height?

Makes sense. Then is the influencing CBA factor - assuming it's not a coincidence - the increase in extensions, which pulls money out of the pool and gives teams leverage? Seems like that could be a bit of a feedback loop

Curious what happens next offszn when there'll supposedly be more cap space

26.07.2025 21:32 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Previously seemed mostly limited to 2nd round deals, but maybe I'm misremembering

26.07.2025 21:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I wonder if we'll see deals trend more in that direction. Or if the next CBA reverses course somehow.

Also the increase is anecdotal - I haven't (yet) found a data source that logs past partial guarantees. But some teams, including GS (Slo Mo and Hield deals), started doing it more last offseason.

26.07.2025 21:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Good piece. Seeing more people call the 2nd apron a hard cap, and I agree. I don't think I've seen anyone call attention to the increase of partial / non guarantees in the out years of contracts. Not an expert in NFL contracts, but reminds me of them - and NFL actually is a hard cap! (1/3)

26.07.2025 21:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It'll be interesting to watch for. They haven't had a ton of team success, but is that their fault or the teams around them? There's gotta be a middle ground for teams between giving them 25% of the cap vs holding out for like lower than NTMLE, but how feasible is that in the given cap system?

25.07.2025 18:26 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, that makes sense since there's more control over offense. I wonder if the lack of games last year is putting doubt in teams' minds about how reliable the offensive numbers of +2 or better are from last year. It was a bit of a jump, though how big changes depending on which all in one

Is there a way to "fix" restricted free agency in the NBA that isn't just getting rid of it altogether? MLB's draft comp for qualifying offers also often has a chilling effect. Not familiar with if / how the NFL and NHL handle it

I also get the appeal of both GP2 and Seth, but not a huge fan. Love GP2, but if he and JK come back, it's easy to see Kerr playing GP2 over JK. If JK doesn't come back, it's easier. Or if they deal JK midseason...

Seth is a great shooter, but not much else. Both are likely to miss time

I did find it interesting that TK mentions both Toohey and Richard starting the year on two-way deals, implying one of Taran Armstrong and Jackson Rowe will get knocked out of a two-way spot. Something to watch

25.07.2025 17:56 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Still no numbers on what JK has turned down from GS, but my guess is that it's in the $18-20M range. Going to the max of the $22-25M range Kawakami suggests at the end would put GS right at the 2nd apron limit, assuming vet minimums for whoever is filling out the roster (and that my math is right)

A different team context may also see him fall from the 90th percentile in offense. I haven't done the research, but I'm sure teams have done some on how players respond to changing contexts like that

@bjpf.bsky.social re: Ron Holland - another reason I’m bullish on him is he’s got Fred Vinson helping with that jumper. Could be big things in store there!

Side note idk if even Vinson can get Ausar’s jumper right

if the salary is Grayson Allen, then I guess? if it's Royce O'Neale + others, probably not?

it would be better than those reported Sacto offers, at least
