Not as developed by his draft day, but his path reminds me of Pinto.
Really athletic kids that kept growing in to their frames and taking significant steps each season.
Personalities/character don’t sound far off either.

If you weren’t a fan during those early 2000s, it’s impossible to prepare for this.
Being the team that ends the Matthews/Marner era would be an emotion I’m not sure how to adequately explain.
I actually think it would be the one thing that would make them blow it up.
The Sens recognizing they needed to trade a core piece before ever playing a playoff game and then dog walking them in the playoffs would be the sweetest irony.
Top 5 Sens post of all time, and it ain’t 2-5.

Gonna take awhile for the whiff of the previous regime to get cleaned off this team.
Welcome to thunderdome

22.11.2024 03:04 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Are we allowed to talk about trading Tkachuk over here, or do the same rules apply?
22.11.2024 02:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I think you are right.
From my view, this is the style that Tkachuk would rather play as well, very north south, punishing along the boards. His passing talent really opens up space for Norris as well.
Timmy can use his natural skating and skill to open lanes, and it’s not wasting his linemates.
It was a constant issue that they papered over with the leagues best d-core and 4 lines of great 2-way play.
It was the number 1 reason they never won. Not really a close second either
Last night felt like all the pieces came together from a play style stand point.
Said it elsewhere, but it looked and felt like the glory Martin days, right down to the shaky goaltending.
If the style continues, the last remaining piece is being able to close down wins, which is not a small part.
Awesome.
You focused (rightfully) on the Norris line benefitting from this right away, but I think it speaks volumes of Stützle’s growth to handle number 1 responsibility.
Between Norris getting to his natural play style and Timmy going superstar mode, it will be hard to switch the lines back.
You want positives? For those that may have been a little younger, that is how Sens hockey felt the majority of the Martin era.
Dominant defensively, way more skill than the opponent, and just waiting for a break, while Hoping your goalie doesn’t do that thing.
Ullmark just went full Lalime.
It’s not real until Melnyk bots take you down.

One of the things I struggle with, is what would allow this team to take a major leap?
They need a closer, they need a shooter, they need interior force. Just feels like they are still multiple top end pieces away from being anything resembling a challenge.
Twas me. Technically, for a day in 2022-23, they held a spot being 4-3-0.
But I’m not correcting myself for the masses.
I can’t get over Tkachuk entire career being spent outside the playoffs. How he’s managed to stay positive is insane to me.
That’s an excellent way to phrase it.

03.07.2024 13:01 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0On a team he can just play on a 3rd line without ever having to slot up, he will be great.
The difference between a Joseph and a Vermette-type feels small until you lose a scorer for 6 weeks.
You have to learn how to get fired well. It’s a whole new way to appreciate the bad job you used to have.

28.05.2024 19:40 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yeh, they are talking like Pesce is likely gone, but Skjei is the interesting one to me.
If he’s gone, probably not much room for Chychrun, but they have so many pieces they are at risk of losing right now.
Isn’t Chychrun exactly what Carolina needs? A top 4 dman with a cheap year left on his deal to help keep the talent level on the backend up?
Unless you think Chyrchrun submarines his value in the last 25 games.
Football and basketball fans that want to understand the nuance of the game have countless resources to teach them, alongside all the data to back it up.
Hockey is just starting to figure out the data, but we are all still strategy idiots. We don’t even know what coaches do 90% of the time.
If Timmy gets back to firing pucks on net as had previously, there’s no reason it can’t be a top tiered power play.
