I really, really enjoy most of the film, but yeah, the violence is ugly—not only the gratuitous shrieking climax (though the flamethrower callback is great) but the earlier scene of Brad Pitt pummeling a cult member in slow motion. Totally unnecessary.

I've *always* thought that every Leo D project would be improved by replacing him with Matt Damon. But he really is great in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD!
