Round360

Promotional advertisement for NBC's radio program "The Great Gildersleeve" as it appears on a metal jar lid for a Kraft (or possibly a Crisco) product, probably in the 1940s. It measures 2.25" in diameter and has a canning jar-like inner seal rather than threads. I have no idea where I got it or when. It's possible that round objects are now suddenly appearing among my possessions, knowing that they'll have a safe, loving home with me. If so, who knows? Maybe someday I'll magically find a Nobel Peace Prize taking refuge in my underwear drawer.

Ooo! Could you also clean my house for me??

Power indicator light on the rechargeable battery for my EGO 21" self-propelled lawn mower. It's only about an inch wide but it's a meaningful inch. Sometimes it's red. Sometimes it's green. Sometimes it's like this - just waiting to be activated. 56 volts of lithium-ion magic. Too bad I never get to use it because I can't mow in the morning (it's too damp), I can't mow in the afternoon (it's too sunny and/or hot), and I can't mow at night (it's too dark). If another time of day ever presents itself, however, I'm prepared - fully charged and ready to go!

Bottom of a 9.5" diameter non-stick frying pan. If you zoom in and out rhythmically and repeatedly you can hypnotize yourself into believing it's actually the closed portal to another dimension. (I'm no doctor but if you see the portal start to open it's probably time to stop.)

KSONE soft ball for yoga, massage, and fitness (or so they say). About 2.5" in diameter. About 7 oz. in weight. If NASA ever discovers a new planet in the solar system I hope it looks just like this.

The only Beatles 45 record that I own that was actually purchased at the time of its initial release (Oct 1969). It cost about a dollar - maybe just 89 cents at Woolworth's. Glass paperweight. About 2.25" in diameter. About 10.6 oz. in weight. Bought it for about $5.00 on eBay. Paid about another $5.00 for shipping. It's in front of me right now, holding down papers VERY well. Einstein himself couldn't hold them down better. I think I'll keep it!

Top view of a blue latex balloon. About 7" in diameter. Personally inflated; personally popped. If YOU have a balloon that needs popping, let me know. I work cheap even though I have lots of experience. (PS - Did you know fear of balloons is called globophobia? That's my contribution to Useless Knowledge Wednesday. What's yours?)

Bottle cap turned into an art project/refrigerator magnet. I can't recall where I got it. I wish I could tell you who made it. No matter. It remains the perfect excuse for me to promote llama llove (which is ALWAYS worth a few minutes of my time).

Windmill at a local park. It is connected to an actual pump that pumps actual water as part of an educational exhibit that shows - on a small scale - how the wind can be harnessed to do useful work. Perhaps someday I'll learn how to harness the wind to post these photos for me.

Yes, I'm afraid the fine art of shoveling hot lava into a little bottle has become a lost art. Like the monks of old, however, I plan on saving what I can in the hope that future generations may one day rediscover the miracle that was the 1960s.

I've ordered about 1000. I'll let you know if they ever arrive!

Lovely! :-)

A translucent medallion showing Penn State University's Old Main building along with its Panther logo/mascot. The medallion is about 3.5" in diameter and is apparently made to hang in a window by a gold string so daylight can illuminate it. I've never been to Penn State but someone who knows that I like round things thought I might like this very round thing and gave it to me quite unexpectedly. I had no idea that it existed prior to this - which of course makes me wonder about all the round things out there in the world still waiting for me to discover them. I doubt that I'll ever discover them all but I intend to have a lot of fun trying.
