The survey itself still says it closes on February 13; is it going to turn off then? Please update it!

@mayorofseattle.bsky.social The renter's survey link you recently posted is broken (404). Please post a corrected version!

I do have a link to the previous form you posted, but it still says the deadline is the 13th.

The trick to making art is to make art and then keep making art and never stop making art and when people tell you to stop you don't stop and then they go away and you keep making art.

@susankitchens.bsky.social I assume MacOS RoadKill was part of the big cats era? 😝

I think it's nice to have the names for added personality, but it's better if they have an inherent sequence. Honestly, who doesn't love a Saucy Salamander or a Plucky Puffin? 😁

MacOS also has both a number and a name. This year they finally got around to numbering their OSes by the year (though they do it by the upcoming year, like car manufacturers). And of course the names have no rhyme or reason to them (beyond being places in California now, and big cats a decade ago).

Ubuntu version history - Wikipedia

Yes, they do that, but also *adjective animal*: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_...

Indeed. They should do it like Ubuntu with alliterative names that march through the alphabet, like Feisty Fawn, Gutsy Gibbon, Hardy Heron, Intrepid Ibex, etc.

Conspiracy theory is an efficient engine to immediately quarantine any conceivable evidence against your position, which allows you to rationalize just about anything, which is why you shouldn't fuck with it.

Every time someone tells me that interoperable protocols are too complicated for the average person, I point out that they use email and the web.

The goal needs to be to get atproto to the point that it is just "how the internet works" and the details fade into the background like https & smtp.

Today feels like a good day to spotlight the recent appeal made by Kurihara Toshio, one of the preeminent Japanese reporters on the war memory beat, to journalists covering war today.

Its drawn from his research on the failures of Japan's media establishment in the 1930s:

"Unlike cynicism, hopefulness is hard-earned, makes demands upon us, and can often feel like the most indefensible and lonely place on Earth. Hopefulness is not a neutral position either. It is adversarial. It is the warrior emotion that can lay waste to cynicism." - Nick Cave

If anyone wants help with this, I recommend the app β€œOne sec.”, which I use on Reddit, Instagram and here. It allows me 5 min of scrolling before intervening, where I have those apps locked for an hour (you can adjust the timing however you want). It’s been a godsend.

Right on. I think that's an important piece to recognize about generative AI… it can be a "gateway drug" to "traditional creativity".

I know I'm preaching to the choir… Just thinking out loud. πŸ˜„

A sign with an arrow that reads: Business Center Restrooms

I feel like "Business Center" is a better euphemism for "toilets" than "Restrooms".

Also, I think it's worth noting that working at an AI music company hasn't dampened your interest in creating non-AI music yourself. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it actually enhanced it… What would you say?

Lovely! Here's my list:

* See those I love thrive (and help as I can).
* Continue my artistic pursuits (visual effects for films, writing short stories, etc.).
* Promote and steward community (both locally and beyond).
* Help people bridge divides and connect with the rich complexity of the world.
