Big news! The B&O tax realignment is going to Seattle voters this fall. It was watered down (read the article for details) but then we saw a progressive revenue proposal pass unanimously through this council, which I would have said was highly unlikely just a year ago.

Me and my 90 year old mom voted today: 🇺🇸 🗳️

Mailer for Sara Nelson—who has done a lot of harm to Seattle. Most recently, Sara Nelson did not attend a committee meeting, seemingly to thwart confirming renters to the Renters’ Commission, after D5 resident and former CM sent her a 2:30 am email complaining that the confirmation was on the agenda. Actually, that does sound like the fix is in.

It’s the creation of a brand new civil offense on top of the existing misdemeanor and felony offenses. Graffiti is already illegal and the CAO has legal tools to go after prolific taggers. We will spend more in SPD and CAO staff time than we will even recoup from this new $1,500 civil penalty.
