14.01.2026 20:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0And that wraps up the pre-Toronto meta snapshot! While these archetypes aren't as well defined as in Reg I, this should still provide a good picture of what the metagame looks like as of right now. Looking forward to see how the in-person tournaments will shake things up!
15/15
And one of the main mons that hate the rise of Flutter is Porygon2 amongst others. Additionally, the meta has chosen to move past Kingambit, as Gouging teams have chosen stronger avenues to go with, and no Kingambit teams have made a major splash in the online tours.
14/15
As mentioned throughout this breakdown, Bulky Booster Flutter with lots of defense (even sometimes as much as Bold), has been on the rise. This helps enable Arc-H with T-Wave and is extremely hard to remove, so mons that are disrupted by Taunt really struggle into it
13/15
Another archetype that has mostly solidified around 6 Pokemon is Hard TR. Interestingly ditching the Ursaluna that was core in previous iterations, this team aims to play around Smeargle with Decorate as the alternative option to Psyspam.
12/15
While this team won a Regional during Reg F part 1, results have been more limited due to adaptations in the meta that don't favor it (i.e Crown and Harc). However, the strength of Ninetales + Articuno is real, and Snow players have been evolving to add mons like Heatran.
11/15
A new team to reg F part 2, different variants of Sun have popped up and focus around getting Flutter or Wake into position with Torkoal to deter TR or go into it themselves. Lots of unique Proto/Chloro options have made their way onto this archetype as well.
10/15
Another regulation where Dozo remains a fringe, but playable archetype. There are tons of different combinations not listed here of partners (Psyspam, Snow, Torn Ursh etc.), and these are aimed to force your opponent into difficult mindgames and often are 2-2-2 teams.
9/15
Starting off C tier is another version of balance that utilizes TR as part of it's core gameplan, as such this team has also suffered a bit due to Flutter's dominance. Variants have popped up with both P2 and Cress, but their goal is similar - get Ursa in position.
8/15
Although there has been some experimentation on this team, the 6 listed below have made up the lion's share of the results with Iron Crown. This team utilizes its great offensive synergy (Dragon/Steel + FWG) and high power to punch through any team.
7/15
Although this could have been split into multiple archetypes, most of these Torn teams play pretty similarly, with a heavy reliance on Tailwind and wanting to end games quickly. Some variants want Smeargle, some rely on Sunny Day on Torn, and some like RD with Urshifu.
6/15
Entering B Tier, we have another variant of balance that focuses on Amoonguss and TR as opposed to Fake Out and Ursh. But this archetype has suffered as of late due to the popularity of Bulky Flutter. Mental Herb Amoonguss is a direction to try to mitigate this issue.
5/15
Gouging teams have chosen 1 of 2 paths, either the Ting Dozo ones that had existed prior, or the Zapdos-G + Sini ones that focus more on Ting-Lu. Kingambit has largely been ignored and left off these teams. This team wants to abuse all the phys synergies (Howl, SoR, VoR).
4/15
During Reg F part 1, the "Japan Balance" variant of this archetype was the most dominant team in the format. However, since the beginning of Reg F part 2, the rise of Bulky Flutter has forced this team to adapt as CM Bolt has such a negative matchup into it.
3/15
Our only S tier archetype, Flutter Harc revolves around the offensive and defensive synergy of bulky Flutter alongside Arc-H and Wellspring. Previously, this team was centered on Ursh-Dark, but these new developments have both improved the team and removed reliance on Ursh.

Welcome back to ESM's Meta Snapshot (Reg F Edition)! As in-person tournaments are starting back up, let's break down what are the most meta-defining archetypes! Keep in mind the archetypes in this format may blur the line, but I tried to define the core of each team.
