Just setting up the venue for tonightβs screening of Midsommarβ¦
21.06.2025 17:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yep. Now up itβs Easy by the Commodores. Entire dining room on tenterhooks waiting for the βUuoough!β
19.03.2025 07:54 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve had Living for the City by Stevie Wonder over a hotel breakfast in Eastbourne. Glorious
19.03.2025 07:47 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm convinced JD Vance was only in that conference with Zelenskyy last week because heβd sat on that lovely sofa earlier in the day, and wasnβt able to stand up without the cameras picking up his obvious arousal
04.03.2025 19:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Jurassic Waterpark is the next logical step
04.03.2025 16:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs on TV tonight in the UK, Channel 4. Not saying you should get a vpn and watch it on the All4 app, Iβm just saying you could.
03.03.2025 16:10 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just finished reading my book on a fairly crowded train.
Was a bit confused by the ending, but I did find out that Jackie from Newark pissed in a plant pot on Leeds Station platform on Friday night, and that she canβt drink rosΓ© because it makes her flaps dry.
Kingy channeling his inner Janey!
02.03.2025 13:41 β π 953 π 188 π¬ 49 π 6Excellent weather today for a bimble up the hill. Sunny, about 6Β°C, dry, and some lovely views (and a very handsome companion).
I also decided a bench is the best legacy one can leave. Thanks, Ali!
Far and away the worst film weβve screened. People left halfway through.
Someone put earphones in to listen to a podcast instead.
Thatβs the script, essentially. With occasional bits of dialogue that sound cobbled off an overheard conversation about a seventh generation pirate copy of A Clockwork Orange for Jim Broadbent to struggle with.
27.02.2025 22:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just spent the evening screening Vroom (1990) in the town it was filmed.
Imagine someone watching Rita, Sue, and Bob Too, but repeatedly nodding off, then trying to write down as much as they can remember the day after, then Google translating it into Chinese, then back to English.
Grand Theft Hamlet is very good. Heartily recommend
24.02.2025 15:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just gone 6pm, and Iβm already under a blanket with a big mug of tea and about 2 hours left in an excellent book. Iβm not sure the rest of the weekend can improve upon this
14.02.2025 18:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yep I found it now, thank you!
04.02.2025 20:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβll have to dig around, Iβve been using it for a couple of years but not seen that
04.02.2025 18:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Is that a StoryGraph graphic? Or something you put together yourself?
04.02.2025 18:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A propos of nothing, i just remembered the period in history when you would spend Β£2 to phone a premium rate number, to receive a bleepy version of Hollaback Girl to use as your phone ringtone. Itβs the 90s equivalent of βWe Drank From The Hose And Didnβt Know What Pasta Wasβ
02.02.2025 14:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0She wanted him celebrated for it?
30.01.2025 16:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I just started London Rules by Mick Herron yesterday!
30.01.2025 16:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Weβve βsoldβ 1 (one!) ticket for No Other Land tonight. Itβs a free screening, in a town that is generally very pro-Palestine.
Iβm not sure what weβve done wrong, are people just entirely out of empathy now?
I think the impact could massively depend on the child, because thereβs no dialogue and minimal sound (other than wildlife and distressed animal sounds), it does absorb you and can get very intense. If youβre just looking to relax I can see where the issue was!
30.01.2025 14:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs pertinent to me anyway, I was suggesting it for a screening at my local community cinema, and having watched it I thought it would be good to open up to children as well. Might have to review with a more child-perspective lens!
30.01.2025 13:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thatβs fair, I think sometimes parents should watch certain films before showing to their children, especially if they are not marketed as specifically childrenβs films. I expected it to be more adult-oriented than it was, but that may be the way I came across it.
30.01.2025 13:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I just watched this alone the other night (well, with my dog). Itβs so lovely, dog wasnβt bothered. I think a a child if have loved it, I didnβt feel it was that traumatising (and a lot of the threats were overcome very quickly)
30.01.2025 13:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I would imagine they would be absolutely terrified, Iβve not seen a single one of these hearings that inspired any confidence.
βAre you currently able to do the job youβve applied for?β
βNo.β
βBut are you willing to learn?β
βAgain, that would be No.β
Tell us what you read, please!
30.01.2025 11:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Theyβve got a robust back-up plan in case the thoughts and prayers donβt workβ¦ Hoping for the best
30.01.2025 11:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Been going back through my TBR pile to try to reduce it a little. I just started on Wait Until Spring, Bandini, and feel a little annoyed that I just slept on it for years
