Basic is one of my favorite flavors of D&D. No one in my immediate gaming groups thinks that.
If new players specifically want to try D&D, that's what I try to use.

2. Marvel Super Heroes Advanced Set
3. Cyberpunk 2013
In truth, my first three box sets are probably all D&D but this is more interesting and true to the question I think.
