So every single one of the 9 arrested 7/15 isn't allowed to talk to "co conspirators" which is deliberate, confusing, and cruel.

These are our community leaders. They feed the homeless. They distribute narcan. They work continuously for the betterment of community.

State violence severing bonds.

this is so sad, forcing Mikki to leave Spokane and all their friends, allies, and people who care about them. this sucks. and all for caring about a group of protestors enough to throw a smoke bomb/possible tear gas canister away from them so they would be unharmed.

I was dissociated throughout the proceedings. These are my aproximations of what people said based on my memories after the fact. The judge was quiet, respectful. He seemed to have a good sense of humor, for a judge. When I talked with Mikki's lawyer after the proceedings, he told me that even when this judge rules against his cases his position understandable. IMAGE: Illustration of the judge. I never got a good look at Bobbis lawyer, as she was always turned away from me. They were both clearly very patient and attentive to Bobbi and Mikki. IMAGE: The federal lawyer in profile. The main lawyer representing the federal govt. was cleary very well paid. Her haircut alone is probably worth more than I've ever made from my work. Not to mention her jewelry and suit. From my view it's pretty clear who's on the right side of history.

The only non-white person at the fed table seemed uncomfortable to me. I wonder what he thinks of the fascism that threatens us all. Does he think he'll be safe. Does he believe that the system he represents is just. In a call that Bobbi had while incarcerated she had told someone to remove some items from their house. The feds assumed that this was drugs. There was discussion about bringing in a "co-conspirator" as a witness but they would need appropriate represenation. Bobbis lawyer argued that the only focus of this case was to determine if Bobbi and Mikki were threats to their community, and if they could be conditionally released. I remember at one point the fed lawyer said something about getting them (bobbi and mikki) for 10 years. the feds argued against the release of Bobbi, calling her "unsupervisable". On June 11th, 2025 the spokane community came together to participate in direct action to defend two community members from being dissapeared by ICE agents. On July 15th. My friend Mikki Hatfield and 8 other activists and protestors who were involved were arrested by federal agents. IMG: A sketch of an empty courtroom. 7 of these protestors were released from state custody within a day of the arrests, but two of them, Bobbi Silva and my friend Mikki Hatfield, were held for several days. Today, July 18th, I attended their hearing and did courtroom sketches. This is my account of what happened. I will be biased. As a cartoonist I naturally exagerate what I see, but I am committed to truth. I have no sympathy for those who defend fascism. With this work I hope to humanize Mikki and Bobbi.

Guidance seems to change daily, and sometimes staff find out that grants have been cut at the same time as PIs. This isn't a good way to run a *business*, let alone a complicated funding entity meant to improve human health and wellbeing.

This is going on *RIGHT NOW* in Spokane.

SPD has declared an unlawful assembly and multiple people have been arrested. Police are preparing to teargas peaceful protesters.

I need answers from @mayorspokane.bsky.social and SPD about why they unnecessarily escalated this situation and supported ICE.

im not saying every riot is necessarily started by the riot squad

but it'd be real sus if the fire department showed up 90 minutes before every fire, right?

Peaceful protest against ICE in Spokane is happening at 411 W Cataldo after the detainment of a young man who went to his hearing. Over a dozen protestors are sitting in front of the bus , prepared to be arrested. The bus windshield has been spray painted

Omfg my qualification test was so hard. My brain got such a workout it feels sore
