Just ordered Short Game. Had to buy from a third party because Denpa is sold out--so that's maybe a good sign!

Adachi is so great. It's tragic how little of his work is available in English. I think Cross Game is the only thing of his that's been officially translated?

Yeah, similar deal would be true as well of the Tintin stuff. When assembled into books later, they added bigger panels--including full pages--to make "flip" work correctly, but they weren't part of the original (old) strips.

Seems like this is relatively late in the game for this (1941) but I can't think of anything earlier? I immediately went to New Treasure island as a possibility but that's '47. Also, there are full pages in the Tintin books, but those are from making them work as collected books, so not until 1950.

Back of the catalog from that huge manga exhibit has a big all-text section that's packed with interesting, surprisingly "inside baseball" stuff about the manga industry.

For example, apparently One Piece covers are printed w a five color process—CMYK plus fluorescent pink.

Not too long ago I flew to NYC for the day mainly to see a show at the Society of Illustrators and the work was around 50% digital repros (and this is a artist who works traditionally). There was nothing about it on the website. Needless to say, I was *incensed*.
