Normal Fault Interactions in Seismic Cycles and the Impact of Fault Network Geometry Seismic cycles of faults far apart and across-strike are periodic and become less periodic and out of phase when closer Seismic cycles of faults along-strike are periodic, and become more synchro...

Paper alert! ๐Ÿšจ
We investigate how the geometry of the fault network affects seismic sequences on normal faults, and how this might affect seismic hazard assessment using physics-based models of earthquakes.

Two days left to vote for @The_GA Journal Awards!

I'm delighted that my tectonics article (using seismic tomography to take fieldtrips to the mantle) is in the final three.

I would appreciate a vote from any GA member who found it helpful.

New paper by @khushgr.bsky.social couples vegetation, 3D climate and biogeochemistry continuously over 250 million years!

We find that changing plant distribution was a major long-term carbon cycle feedback and may account for up to ~5 C of warming at some times

The results of our colleagues at NASA are indeed worrying. With our joint satellite missions GRACE (2002-2017) and GRACE-FO (since 2018) we are measuring the mass changes within Greenland's ice sheet. Now, NASA colleagues use different methods & satellites and the situation seems even worse.

The M6.6 below Brazil yesterday was part of a line of really interesting ultra-deep earthquakes along the South American subduction zone. These kinds of earthquakes are a puzzle, because they occur in a part of the Earth that should be too hot for brittle faulting.
