Fleetwood Town 3-2 Barrow

Great game with Fleetwood coming back from 2-0 down at half time to take the points thanks to two late goals.

Not great conditions after the recent rain, but a decent game and a game of two halves with the hosts deservedly getting the win.

Enjoyable visit for a comfortable Leverkusen win with two goals in each half.

Great catching up with friends and had a fantastic weekend with my nephew for his first experience of German football.

Standard Liege 0-4 Gent

First visit to Liege and I really liked the stadium. Steep stands on three sides and a feeling of being close to the pitch even in the third tier.

I didn’t bring the home side any luck and Gent took their chances to win fairly comfortably in the end.

Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Werder Bremen

Really enjoyable visit to Leverkusen catching up with friends.

The game wasn’t a classic but a much needed first win of 2026 for Leverkusen.

Olympiakos 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Another enjoyable trip, but a frustrating game that Leverkusen should have got something from. Plenty of missed chances and Olympiakos took their chances.

Nice few days away though catching up with friends.

Market Drayton 0-7 Runcorn Town

Fantastic away win for the league leaders on a nice afternoon in Shropshire

The damage was done in the 1st half with a dominant performance & 4 goals

2nd half was more competitive but Town added 3 more to extend the lead at the top of the table

Another interesting week of footy ahead! 🍻

Runcorn Town 6-0 Shawbury United

My 400th Runcorn Town game and it was a dominant win.

Town were fantastic in the second half in particular and only good goalkeeping prevented more goals.

A good lead now at the top of the table with 15 games to go.

Manchester City 1-1 Brighton

Great point on the road. Good entertaining game with chances for both teams to score more.

Pilkington 2-6 Burscough

Entertaining game with Burscough fairly comfortable winners on a freezing cold afternoon.

A few late goals for the punters who stayed until the bitter end!

Clitheroe 2-2 Atherton Collieries

Cracking second game of the day. Atherton led at half time but Clitheroe scored twice in a couple of minutes to go ahead before an equaliser for the visitors.

Second visit to a great little ground.

Blackburn 0-2 Wrexham

First game of 2026 and my first visit to Blackburn for 9 years.

Not a classic but Wrexham scored twice in the first half and although Blackburn hit the bar in the second half they didn’t really look like getting back into the game.

Just over 12 hours into the new year and the drought is over! Managed to find a footy match.

2025 has been a decent year for football.

I managed to get to 131 matches in the UK and across Europe which is more than any other calendar year so far.

Liverpool Women 1-9 Chelsea Women

Quite a one-sided cup tie as the score suggests with Chelsea’s quality and ruthlessness leading to a comfortable win.

Bamber Bridge 3-1 Warrington Rylands

Second game of a Saturday double header and a third visit to Bamber Bridge.

This one also went against the form book with the home side picking up the win against third place Rylands.

Preston 1-1 Norwich

This game was heading for a 0-0 until Norwich scored a late goal with their first shot on target.

That would have been a surprise win for the struggling visitors but Preston scored deep into injury time to earn a point.

Altrincham 0-3 Rochdale

Fairly comfortable win for top of the table Rochdale other than a spell of pressure where their keeper made a couple of great saves.

Dale looking good for a return to the football League at the moment.

Possible double header today, starting with Preston vs Norwich.
