Reminder that before I started writing novels I didn't study writing at university, attended no workshops/conferences, knew absolutely no one in science fiction publishing circles, and didn't start going to conventions until after I got a contract for my novel.

Magic faraway series! Or just any of the older Blyton series. I recently reread Malory Towers and it was as good as back then

2x was great and now this is even better 😄 the long audiobooks don't seem so long now haha

Yeah, I've liked a Jewell book, really didn't like another one and I've heard mixed reviews for most of her books. I don't mind unsettling thrillers, don't like domestic ones all that much or ones where cheating is a big factor - but otherwise, whatever looks good
