10.02.2025 19:58 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yeah I'm glad to see that people are protesting. Hopefully that's a good sign for the elections. My heart hurts seeing all of this happening.
08.02.2025 22:29 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I don't understand why not more of the big media outlets convey this message, that the new administration is doing things that are unlawful. And thus, that there are tool to fight back and protect democracy. People would feel more empowered, I think.
08.02.2025 19:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0For context: The National Science Foundation founds a lot of basic research in the US. This new policy asking program officers to "review" grants based on a list of keywords containing words lie "biased" or "female" does not "just" attack DEI but all serious science. In the end it hurts everyone.
04.02.2025 09:21 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0For this project I bought several shirts in a second hand clothing store (goodwill) and added some scraps from my stash. I chose the colors at the beginning basically by following what felt good 😊
30.01.2025 09:06 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thank you so much for your kind words! The shape emerged somewhat organically by using shirt sleeves. As you probably can picture we'll, when you cut open mens sleeves, you get these pretty curves on the shoulder ends, and large wedge shapes as the sleeves are tapered. That was the starting point!
30.01.2025 09:04 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Do you have any experience with / tips for repurposing leather from old boots? I have a pair that I've had repaired multiple times but seams are now catastrophically failing. Still, the leather on the shafts looks too good to me to just throw out.

29.01.2025 06:53 — 👍 43 🔁 3 💬 4 📌 0I think many will but not sending a loud public message along with it will still have a damaging effect on dei efforts. We have to counteract this as much as possible within our own little spheres.

26.01.2025 21:41 — 👍 12 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Today I was reminded of this quilt I made a while ago for an exhibition of our guild #dcmqg about "patriotism". It reads "Ich bin froh, nicht stolz, Deutsche zu sein" (I am glad, not proud, to be German). Things I didn't do anything for but that benefit me are a privilege not a source of pride.

25.01.2025 14:41 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thank you! It's simple but effective. The only downside is that you need to use bias binding to get a nice cornder. The first time, I tried this on an even smaller project: hot pads

I love the texture of these #placemats when they get hit by the low winter sun!
This project started in a "scrap play" workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood last January. We sewed "scrap jelly rolls", which I then sandwiched between larger, sandy-colored scraps to let the colors pop.

I can see that!
24.01.2025 17:41 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I've come to the same conclusion! Too many tops that still need quilting are stacking up in my house. Would you mind sharing a recommendation for a longarmer in Germany/Europe for modern quilts? DM is fine too :)
24.01.2025 10:36 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Ah you think so? It's one of my (many ;)) favorites, especially when combined with blue or teal! I'm curious why you find it tricky.

23.01.2025 16:51 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Second, a quilt I started quilting but have a shied away from recently because I'm unsure of the quilting plan and it's very heavy (thanks to a heavy repurposed linen sheet for backing). The quilt started in a workshop with the late Sarah Bond at Quiltcon 2020.

I want to give this a try. Hopefully we can create the same kind of supportive & inspiring community that we have on IG but without supporting spineless billionaires. Here's a collection of my work to kick things off!

First, my most recent quilt finish: "The space between us"
It's gorgeous! I love both the design and the colors
