I am at work so technically not supposed to be working on anything, but I am thinking about the last section of the last chapter of my book and how I'm going to close things out before I send it off into the world, which feels quite daunting.

Watching Notorious for the umpteenth time. What a movie. Love the shift when Rains pieces things together and everyone starts operating on an entirely different level.

Totally agree, it's absolutely stunning. Love it so much.

Just got back from Together and I thought it was really fun. Felt like the filmmaker was sincerely interested in the love story, which I appreciate. Some gross special effects and some fun moments (it's not necessarily surprising but I think that's okay).

I didn't buy this from Matt because I'm in Canada and I ordered it locally, but you should buy this! The Crow is awesome and Alisha is also awesome.

I feel like I have unlocked new levels of publishing: I am reading a book that I have been asked to blurb! Absolutely wild feeling that anyone wants my opinion on a book outside of work but what a lovely privilege.

This is what prompted me to pick it up and read it (in one sitting, on an airplane, not really attempting to hide the text from my nosy seatmate who maybe needed to grab his own copy)

This is a great write up, thank you! I am so looking forward to this movie and glad to hear it's properly romantic, that's what I've been hoping for.

Happy publication day to @danielkraus.com and Angel Down - a nightmare of trench warfare and supernatural horror, told in one long winding (and very gory) sentence.

Daniel was my guest last week. If you haven't listened yet, I recommend.

All podcast platforms.

I'm reposting my initial response to Angel Down, the best book I've read so far this year in a year full of staggeringly good and ambitious novels. Happy pub day to @danielkraus.com and if you haven't preordered this book yet go pick it up, it is so worth it.

Post a film you'll never watch because it won't live up to the version you imagined from the poster

This movie is cool as hell (I used to have a coloring book as a kid) but the poster is phenomenal, so I support this decision.

Letterboxd last watched: Black Bag, The Firm, The Dark Half, and Heart Eyes.

#LetterboxdFriday featuring a delightfully slick spy movie, a dreadfully long legal thriller, a kind of silly Stephen King adaptation, and a horror romance slasher.

What perfect albums came out when you were 16*?

*no retroactive cool, please. Albums that were in the house that you actively purchased and listened to.

(none of these are "perfect" but they're pretty good, and Sloan came out in 96 but I hadn't turned 17 yet)

My giant puppy Chad posing with a stack of copies of FEEDING THE WHEEL because he knows every copy sold means more money in the kibble fund

Pub day is here! My debut cosmic horror novella FEEDING THE WHEEL is officially out on store shelves and digital marketplaces all over the world. Instead of droning on about how proud I am of this work and how fulfilled I feel as a writer, I'd like to take a sec to thank everybody who made this real

Yes, totally agree. Obviously we need to continue doing much more than that to make change, but it's difficult to do anything without first paying attention to those who have been doing the work outside of the mainstream publishing industry.

All three of the threads here are very good but this is the one that i think of (and try to mitigate) wherever I can. The first step for editors to counteract our internal bias is to read widely outside of our own lived experiences so we can help champion marginalized and underrepresented voices.

My husband is telling me tickets are usually anywhere between 30-90ish for the screenings, depending on which one you want to see (I don't know if they've released prices yet for this year)...that's more than I was expecting!

I want to see it too! I am not a TIFF member and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth joining to get first crack at tickets.

My love for NIN and Gillian Anderson is definitely cancelling out my hatred of Leto. I don't love Legacy but that Daft Punk soundtrack is on regular rotation for me so if the NIN is even close it will be worth a middling movie.
