Dipper loves mysteries but even more he's worried he won't be seen as cool enough for that. He's trying his hardest to act like the older and cool kids, that sometimes he catches himself not fully knowing what he himself likes :( You can see here Stanley is a little more laid back in the way he expresses himself, he wants to seem friendly to the customers, townspeople, and especially his nephew and niece. And there's one more reason he appreciates his freedom so much, before the mystery shack (which I'll alternate the name later) he was in the military originally not from his will and that time was not remembered as very nice. Long hair, a tattoo and piercings are a way to express himself which he couldn't fully do all his life. In those character sheets I tried to replicate the show's artstyle as best as I could :)

In this au instead of a different sweater for every episode Mabel would have a different color of her bandana and/or Tshirt :) She definitely loves to practice sparring with her Grunkle Lee and outdoor adventures with Dipper. She may look like a less of a sweetheart at first compared to her original version but she's just as good-hearted
