Undocumented immigrants contribute nearly $100 billion in taxes every year.

Meanwhile, the wealthiest 1% dodge $163 billion in taxes annually.

The real drain on America isn’t coming from the border β€” it’s coming from the boardroom.

A whopping FIVE (out of 29) state senators are Democrats, and some of those barely seem to be so.

I AM in my county party leadership. There are two of us.

Utah (ultra-RED) has had universal mail-in voting for several years. Our MAGAfied legislature, uber Trump sycophants, is doing their level best to end that.

Once in a while, SCOTUS does the right thing. I'm sure they won't make it a habit.

The first and last lines of Joni Ernst’s legacy as a human on earth will be that she was instrumental in the confirmation of the Sec of Defense most hostile to women serving in military, and she knew that when she voted for him.

Just ask Bezos, Musk, Gates, Ellison, and Cook to give the money back. If anyone has a spare trillion or three, it is these guys.

Some states have no recall law, e.g. Utah, where I live. I'd love to chance the occasional nuisance recall election for the opportunity to have ANY recall election at all. We have no recourse.

The Constitution allows, aside from amendments, for the convening of a Constitutional Convention, in which the delegates (not Congress) can propose amendments--or throw out the entire Constitution and propose a new one.

Yeah, sure--if you live in a state not 100% dominated by one party. Welcome to Utah.

FWIW, I live exactly ONE MILE from Wyoming, in Utah, which has 6X the population and 2X the representation in Congress.

Those under the age of 25 have never had any direct representation, even prior to lowering the age of suffrage to 18. Women of any age had no direct representation before the 19th Amendment. Native Americans were not citizens until the 1920s. The Declaration of Independence has always been illusory.

Sometimes there are adjacent polling places--not in one's own district--which are closer. I live in a 723 sq mil county, population <1000, with exactly TWO polling locations, 39 miles apart. Wyoming is one mile away; the problem for those residents is even worse, with their county seat 50 mi away.

Yes, but let's alter the verbiage of your statement: US Voters should be able to recall ANY Elected Official via Petition at any time.

My political hot take is that US voters should be able to recall elected representatives via petition - at any time.
No more hiding behind election terms.

Kansas county to pay $3 million after law enforcement raid on a small-town newspaper β€œThe goal isn’t to get the money. The money is symbolic,” the Marion County Record's publisher said. β€œThe press has basically been under assault.”

A rural Kansas county has agreed to pay a little more than $3 million and apologize over a law enforcement raid on a small-town weekly newspaper in August 2023 that sparked an outcry over press freedom, the paper’s editor says.

Utah constitution earmark(ed) ALL income tax for K-12 pubic ed. 20 yrs ago, amended to give a slice to higher ed, then to special ed. 10 yrs ago we voted not to allow any of it to go to vouchers. Now, vouchers are siphoning nearly $180mil/yr. Money for public education exists; they won’t

My local school district (also) Mustang has less than 200 students. Even tho our religiouslature tries to give all the money to private schools, our situation isn’t as dire as yours. At the state level, the money is there (ALL income tax is for ed) getting them to appropriate is a challenge.

Two-thirds of California's power comes from clean energy.

For 9 in 10 days so far this year, we were 100% powered for some part of the day by clean energy.

The Golden State has become the world's fourth-largest economy because of our climate leadership, not in spite of it.
