ATC has always been overworked, going back to Reagan. Staffing levels never recovered from the PATCO strike.

The number of aviation accidents over time is a pretty smooth line, regardless of which comparative intervals you select. Overwhelmingly most of them are GA, the majority of those are pilot error and such things don't really change.

And 1051 during the same period in 2024.

The ATC shortage is very much responsible for delays and cancellations. There have been no accidents attributable to a lack of controllers. The DCA midair was caused by stupid policy foisted on the FAA by Congress.

Just this morning I scolded someone for posting the fake Duffy quote about air traffic controllers and then telling me "well, it sounds like something he could have said so it doesn't matter if it's made up".

You shouldn't do it (I'm a former EMT). First of all, any perfusion gains would be minimal. Second, you don't know what's wrong with the patient and some conditions, particularly vascular hemorrhages - could be seriously aggravated.

Assess before moving.
