You don't need AI to make animation. You literally have a camera in your pocket. You can draw with a stick in the mud and shoot the frames. There are several apps that help make this even easier.

Maya in particular also has quite the paywall.

Every time I have gone back to Adobe, it has been because everyone else in the crew has the software, and the same version. You didn't need to ask. It's been everybody's fallback software, and now its plug is getting pulled. Absolutely maddening.

I am one of a great many animation students who's foundational animation training was in Flash/Animate. The concept of a node system was first shown to me through Nuke. I also had no idea just how important it was within the grand scope of a pipeline. No college students are.

I'm sorry to break my own silence here on Bluesky about this so loudly, but I am simultaneously working in Toonboom and Adobe Animate. Toonboom is industry standard software and much of the frustration in this industry is lack of software training because Adobe Animate is fifteen years behind.

Proper deformers.
Continued stability improvements.
Better vector-based reading
The ability to scrub through audio while animating.
Volume control.
Being able to color and outline on the same layer indestructively.
Streamlining with Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects.

Since I just finished the animation on a humongous shot and on the same day, Adobe decided to pull the most baffling business decision I've ever seen, time's now ticking on something on the backburner I thought til recently was destroyed.

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.
