2, 016m ocean swim

When I was 13, I did an 8km (5m) swim in a swimming pool (320 lengths). As a 47 year old those days are behind me. BUT to be able to do a 2km ocean swim with bilaterally fused wrists, thumbs & ankles while living with not 1, not 2 but 3 life-altering conditions makes me pretty fucking cool, I think.

I am hopeful that someone might be able to recover them for me but in the mean time here is one that I did manage to get from the card (albeit at very low resolution) 2/2

Year 14: day 183: had an absolutely wonderful time seeing the squirrel monkeys today. Unfortunately my memory card seems to have somehow corrupted itself so I have been unable to access the majority of my photos which sucks cos I think I had some really good ones.

I *may* have only noticed the red (don’t swim) flag when I got out from my mile-long swim. It’s only like 500m one way but the current is super strong.

Also, compare Bill’s (right wrist) compared to my Apple Watch (left wrist). I think maybe I should invest in tri-band GPS watch for outdoor swims…

Year 14; day 177: making myself picture of the day in honour of my first swim in the ocean in 2026.

The last few months have been quite tricky health wise and the lovely warm water helped wash all that away. The sea is my happy place
