Red: We started with "The Mirror" by Dennis Miller Bunker. Blue: Our teacher gave us black and white photocopies of a close-up on the face. I drew gridlines on top. Green: I drew outlines of the major elements. Yellow: I did a value study. (My thumbnail was waaay too big 😂) Brown: Charcoal drawing on tinted paper. I changed some features and added more hair to make her my own.

Last day of drawing class! ✍️

Finished this charcoal portrait, and I'm glad my teacher encouraged us to frame them. It does make it feel special. 🥰

I did a value study and flipped the image upside-down to assess the composition.

I used a plumb line and blocked proportions to help plot out the gesture and shape of the figure.
