Because we know each other in this small community within our small community. We know how, who, and when to trust.

We invite everyone we know and we know 70% of the people who show up, because we are tied to each other by blood, time, and dirt. And we meet the 30% and welcome them in with us.

Replace grind culture with collective care. Replace micromanaging with mutual trust and support.

What's more, this is bush queer leadership. We show up to pragmatism with our radicalisation. We see rigidity and we find ways to swangle. We find difficulty, and we know someone who can help.

We recognise that under hetero-cis normativity, we have already failed. So we can replace professionalism with fierce compassion. Replace hierarchy with collaboration.

🏳️‍⚧️ By engaging in trust based, non-heirarchical queer leadership
🏳️‍⚧️ By building each other up and believing in each other
🏳️‍⚧️ By never ever giving up
🏳️‍⚧️ By knowing that our privilege to organise, would build privilege in young queer kids
🏳️‍⚧️ By giving each other grace, and humility.

This feels like a good move. Though, very precarious given:

Butler says Queensland puberty blocker review not ‘appropriate’ Krishani Dhanji Krishani Dhanji Following from a previous post ... health minister Mark Butler has spoken to reporters in Adelaide on a review into health guidelines for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents. The week, the Queensland health minister, Tim Nicholls, announced a ban on puberty blockers for all new patients of the state’s only gender clinic, at the Royal Brisbane hospital, and for other patients in the public health system, until the government considers the outcome of an independent review into the use of puberty blockers and hormone therapy for minors experiencing gender dysphoria. Butler says he doesn’t think it’s “appropriate” for Queensland to undertake that review, and it should be left to the commonwealth. I’ve indicated to minister [Tim] Nicholls that I don’t think it would be appropriate for Queensland to continue with their stated intention to undertake an evidence review in this area of care. These issues should be nationally consistent, and in my view should be driven by the preeminent authority, which is the NHMRC [national health and medical research council]... It is certainly best practice to ensure that state governments and private services are operating in accordance with national and consistent clinical guidelines that are issued, or at least approved, by the nation’s preeminent authority in this area.

Just heard about the news out of Queensland. Hormone therapy, from puberty onwards, is safe, rigorously evidence-based, life saving medicine that results in higher quality of life, lower rates of depression and anxiety, and a direct reduction in deaths for trans and gender diverse people.

-Our fear is valid
-Most of us can access GAHT
-We have laws to protect us from discrimination
-Our birth certificate can match our gender (at least in Vic)
-We can feel safe in this
-We still need better
-and to fight for it

A reminder to Australians reeling at the horror of Trump's USA:
-Our feelings of fear are valid
-We have anti-discrimination laws to protect most of us
-We have one of the most robust democracies in the world
-We recognise all genders
-We can feel quite safe in this
-We need to fight to keep this

Trans joy is resistance. Gender euphoria is resistance. Staying alive is resistance.

Trans people have always existed and we will continue to thrive. No legislation can take away who we are.

Our community has always overcome and we will again 🏳️‍⚧️
