Because we know each other in this small community within our small community. We know how, who, and when to trust.
We invite everyone we know and we know 70% of the people who show up, because we are tied to each other by blood, time, and dirt. And we meet the 30% and welcome them in with us.

Replace grind culture with collective care. Replace micromanaging with mutual trust and support.
What's more, this is bush queer leadership. We show up to pragmatism with our radicalisation. We see rigidity and we find ways to swangle. We find difficulty, and we know someone who can help.

I was so incredibly proud to work with these three. They are my heroes. Queer leadership is this:
We recognise that under hetero-cis normativity, we have already failed. So we can replace professionalism with fierce compassion. Replace hierarchy with collaboration.

Why we did it
π³οΈββ§οΈ Because gender affirming healthcare saves lives
π³οΈββ§οΈ Because we know and love trans people
π³οΈββ§οΈ Because some of us are trans people
π³οΈββ§οΈ Because of the eggs that haven't cracked yet
π³οΈββ§οΈ Because of the eggs that aren't cracking
π³οΈββ§οΈ Because we're Shepparton,

How we did it:
π³οΈββ§οΈ By engaging in trust based, non-heirarchical queer leadership
π³οΈββ§οΈ By building each other up and believing in each other
π³οΈββ§οΈ By never ever giving up
π³οΈββ§οΈ By knowing that our privilege to organise, would build privilege in young queer kids
π³οΈββ§οΈ By giving each other grace, and humility.

I feel the urge to say to trans folks in the USA:
Get out now. However you can.
Attempting to erase trans existence is the first step.
Criminalising our lives is the next.
Then they imprison and torture us, sending violent mobs against us.
Then they try and kill us all.
You know where you are now

Butler says Queensland puberty blocker review not βappropriateβ
Krishani Dhanji
Krishani Dhanji
Following from a previous post ... health minister Mark Butler has spoken to reporters in Adelaide on a review into health guidelines for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents.
The week, the Queensland health minister, Tim Nicholls, announced a ban on puberty blockers for all new patients of the stateβs only gender clinic, at the Royal Brisbane hospital, and for other patients in the public health system, until the government considers the outcome of an independent review into the use of puberty blockers and hormone therapy for minors experiencing gender dysphoria.
Butler says he doesnβt think itβs βappropriateβ for Queensland to undertake that review, and it should be left to the commonwealth.
Iβve indicated to minister [Tim] Nicholls that I donβt think it would be appropriate for Queensland to continue with their stated intention to undertake an evidence review in this area of care. These issues should be nationally consistent, and in my view should be driven by the preeminent authority, which is the NHMRC [national health and medical research council]...
It is certainly best practice to ensure that state governments and private services are operating in accordance with national and consistent clinical guidelines that are issued, or at least approved, by the nationβs preeminent authority in this area.
Butler says he doesnβt think itβs βappropriateβ for Queensland to undertake that review, and it should be left to the commonwealth.

Just heard about the news out of Queensland. Hormone therapy, from puberty onwards, is safe, rigorously evidence-based, life saving medicine that results in higher quality of life, lower rates of depression and anxiety, and a direct reduction in deaths for trans and gender diverse people.

A reminder to trans people living in Australia reeling at Trump's USA:
-Our fear is valid
-Most of us can access GAHT
-We have laws to protect us from discrimination
-Our birth certificate can match our gender (at least in Vic)
-We can feel safe in this
-We still need better
-and to fight for it

A reminder to Australians reeling at the horror of Trump's USA:
-Our feelings of fear are valid
-We have anti-discrimination laws to protect most of us
-We have one of the most robust democracies in the world
-We recognise all genders
-We can feel quite safe in this
-We need to fight to keep this

Trans joy is resistance. Gender euphoria is resistance. Staying alive is resistance.
Trans people have always existed and we will continue to thrive. No legislation can take away who we are.
Our community has always overcome and we will again π³οΈββ§οΈ
