Last month the Leach Group thoroughly enjoyed attending the WATOC2025 conference in Oslo & would like to thank all of the organisers. Boron PDRA & PhD student Lia Sotorrios & Mauno Lius both presented posters which stimulated some great scientific discussions with delegates.

The Ingleson group have recently welcomed MChem student Gregor Cargill to the lab for the summer to work on 'Boron Directed Borylation', lovely to have you Gregor!

Boron PDRA Mat Cross from the Ingleson group enjoyed presenting his poster at the EaStCHEM ECR Conference earlier this month, thank you to the organisers for putting on a great event!

Boron PhD students Mauno Lius & Chen Li had a great time presenting posters at the @rsc.org Physical Organic Chemistry Interest group Postgrad meeting at @astra-zeneca.bsky.social Macclesfield on Friday. There were lots of great talks and posters from PhD students at the UoE School of Chemistry Joseph Black Conference last week. Boron PhD student Chen Li from the @lloydjonesgroup.bsky.social gave an interesting and well received talk 'The Boroxine-Boronic Acid Equilibrium'.

The Boron team had a fantastic research team meeting this week at Glenmore Lodge. Some great scientific presentations, fruitful discussions and energising walks. All have come back eager to get back to their research and build on the new connections made!

We are looking forward to hearing visiting speaker Prof. Hong Geun Lee's seminar in the University of Edinburgh School of Chemistry next week; 'Creation of Chemical Complexity via Controlled Functionalization of Organoboron Compounds'

On Monday we hosted Matthias Wagner (Goethe University Frankfurt) & Cate Anstoter (University of Edinburgh) for a mini boron symposium ahead of our Boron: Beyond the Reagent advisory board meeting. Both the symposium & board meeting were very informative & fruitful discussions were had by all!

We are looking forward to hearing visiting speaker Matthias Wagner, and University of Edinburgh School of Chemistry Christina Miller Fellow Cate Anstöter giving research seminars next week.

Mathew Cross thoroughly enjoyed presenting his poster 'TADF at the extreme (of visible): Lewis acid tuning of fluorophores for 3rd gen OLEDs' at the Royal Society of Chemistry Dalton Conference last week!

Some of the Boron: Beyond the Reagent Scientific Committee came together this week on a sunny day in Edinburgh to discuss research highlights and generate new ideas for cross work package collaboration. A productive and enjoyable afternoon was had by all!

Group Update! On the 25th of Feb we presented our work to the Salford @u3acommunities.org group, presenting our work on cardiac ion channels and boron. Sylvia and Mauno led workshops on hERG blockers and boron-containing drugs respectively.
