Post image The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault. Federal law enforcement and immigration agents have a tough job. But Americans expect them to carry out their duties in a lawful, accountable way, and to work with, rather than against, state and local officials to ensure public safety. That's not what we're seeing in Minnesota. In fact, we're seeing the opposite. For weeks now, people across the country have been rightly outraged by the spectacle of masked ICE recruits and other federal agents acting with impunity and engaging in tactics that seem designed to intimidate, harass, provoke and endanger the residents of a major American city. These unprecedented tactics-which even the former top lawyer of the Department of Homeland Security in the first Trump administration has characterized as embarrassing, lawless and cruel-have now resulted in the fatal shootings of two U.S citizens. And yet rather than trying to impose some semblance of discipline and accountability over the agents they've deployed, the President and current administration officials seem eager to escalate the situation, while offering public explanations for the shootings of Mr. Pretti and Renee Good that aren't informed by any serious investigation-and that appear to be directly contradicted by video evidence. This has to stop. I would h o p e that after this most recent tragedy, administration officials will reconsider their approach, and start finding ways to work constructively with Governor Walz and Mayor Frey as well as state and local police to avert more chaos and achieve legitimate law enforcement goals. In the meantime, every American should support and draw inspiration from the wave of peaceful protests in Minneapolis and other parts of the country.

The only "myths" are in the minds of maga. The rest of the world clearly saw Trump supporters storming the capital, beating police officers & entering the chambers. It's all on video.

Morgan Rogers double sinks Manchester United and keeps Aston Villa on leadersโ€™ heels There is simply no stopping this Aston Villa machine, cylinders pumping, exclusively handcrafted by Unai Emery, the manager who reacted to Morgan Rogersโ€™s winning goal against Manchester United by launching his jacket into the night sky. โ€œBirmingham, are you listening?โ€ came the chorus from the home support but this was another victory with wider implications. For now Villa, third and three points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, are firmly in the title race, two more brilliant Rogers goals earning a 10th straight win in all competitions and rendering Matheus Cunhaโ€™s well-taken equaliser nothing more than a consolation. A frustrating defeat for Ruben Amorim was compounded by his captain, Bruno Fernandes, being forced off through injury at half-time. Continue reading...

Q: You have differences when it comes to ICE agents in NYC. How do you reconcile them?

TRUMP: We're gonna work them out. The mayor wants to have a safe New York. We're gonna work together.

When I last used Twitter the app kept swapping me off the Following tab without telling me and it wasnโ€™t always obvious when it happened

And even in Following the replies were garbage

Using it became more of me fighting it to get what I wanted, rather than a tool that helped me. So I bailed

I want to be clear: this is what American prisons are like.

I spent years posting about the humanitarian crisis in U.S. prisons. The criminal legal system consigns Americans who are incarcerated to live like this FOR YEARS. DECADES.

This is huge. The Trump administration wants to vastly expand the practice of shipping people to random countries they have never been to before, and are now making this part of a threat; either the countries accept taking third country nationals, or they get banned from visas.

When a federal judge starts a ruling about the government's actions with an extended retelling of Kafka's "The Trial," you know the state of democracy in the good old US of A is in tip-top shape ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I know this is super obvious, but: The United States government threatening foreign students with disappearing them to prison camps in El Salvador because they exercised their constitutionally guaranteed right to freedom of speech and assembly is so incredibly dark, disgusting, and dangerous.

It's revealing that Musk is now going on Fox to protest his firing squads are misunderstood. But it's important to focus on the core issue. Musk says they're actually using a scalpel not a hatchet. There's no gratuitous cruelty, just careful concern. They've hardly fired anyone, despite ...

He's become such a morally-depraved MAGA bootlicker. Amazing he once called Trump "America's Hitler".

Now here he is from within Greenland running a propaganda campaign to convince people there to give up their country.

On a daily basis, I marvel at how many people in putative positions of power are willing to help obliterate American democracy. The US has faced a series of very easy moral tests in the past decade and itโ€™s staggering how often people in once-respected positions have failed.

Some of his readers have asked Mike Masnick @mmasnick.bsky.social why his technology news site, Tech Dirt, has been covering politics so intensely lately. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/04/w...

I cannot recommend Mike's reply enough. It's exactly what readers need to hear, what journalists need to do.

This is a clever idea but I prefer Leni Riefenstahl's 'glorious'
edit of Hitler descending from the clouds over Nuremberg for the 1934 Nazi Party rally. Still, I think Goebbels would've been impressed by those shackles...
