Researchers must work collaboratively with the communities they aim to involve in their studies – starting from shaping the research question, continuing through to the study’s design and implementation, and ensuring meaningful follow-up once the research concludes. This kind of partnership fosters trust, enhances the relevance of the research to those communities, and ultimately leads to greater
engagement and participation.

This summer has been brutal for my family, www.linkedin.com/posts/a-fern.... Grieving Allo, worrying for Trasno still sick, & coping with the thought that if things had been handled differently, there may not have been a fatal outcome.
Thanks to all humans supporting us in any way during these times

On 10/07/16, Trasno was exploring the place that would be his home for nearly 4 years, after his first night as Trasno Fernández Ortiz de Guinea.
Fast forward to 10/07/25, he had his surgery check-up, received the results on his condition, and showed an impressive improvement in his recovery.

Trasno this morning before I left home. Doing what he used to do.
A month ago, we travelled for my friend’s wedding and my dad’s surgery. When we returned on 17th June, we found Trasno, our healthy, energetic cat, seriously unwell: waiting by the door, struggling to breathe, eyes watery and visibly thinner. Since yesterday, we are genuinely happy and relieved.

Reclaiming Care: When Caring for a Cat Sparks a Broader Conversation on Care
What began as caring for my cat Trasno quickly became a profound lesson on the realities of caregiving: its demands, isolation, and the lack of societal infrastructure to support it.
What began as caring for my cat became a lesson on the realities of caregiving: demands, isolation, and lack of societal infrastructure to support it. This experience calls for a wider dialogue about care as both a societal priority and a collective responsibility. open.substack.com/pub/albafsan...

We’ve just added an update with the medical results received so far. I’m not re-sharing the campaign link as it attracts scam accounts. If you’d like to support us or catch up on Trasno’s journey, you can find it by searching “Help save our cat Trasno: Urgent treatment needed” on Google. Thank you.

So far, we’ve paid over the crowdfunding target, but the total bill is higher. We’ll be completing the surgery payments over the coming weeks, and depending on the final diagnosis, further costs are expected, though it’s too early to know how high they might be.

We are deeply grateful for the outstanding veterinary teams who saved his life, and to everyone who offered their kindness and financial support. In less than a week, we raised over £3,000, a truly meaningful contribution to the total bill.

While we await the final diagnosis from the surgical sample analysis, we are balancing work with intensive care responsibilities (close monitoring and medication around the clock).

Thank you for the incredible support during what has probably been one the most difficult times I’ve ever faced (and I don’t say that lightly).
Trasno (my cat, my child) is now home and recovering after undergoing major open chest surgery on 27th June.

Trasno has survived a difficult surgery today! No conclusive diagnosis yet (results in ~2weeks). He'll remain in hospital for a few days, and hopefully everything will go well to bring him home and care for him before next steps are agreed. There is hope! gofund.me/7c6a65c6
