Recent popularity of handhelds will serve to move some mobile gamers to another market segment

...and there wasn't all that much time to establish precedences.

Besides the size of a group involved in the issue transcends countries, if not religions - so that in itself is kinda new.

Calling "freedom of speech" this and that, i think, kinda tries to simplify the problem too much.

Funny how we (as the english speaking internet in general) pretend like there are some obvious rules about what can be said on social media and who can say it.

Like most of us works somewhere, where are the lines?

I am not saying there aren't any, just that it is a complex stuff...

Recipe books are like open-source for cooking. Imagine if some cake recipes had coca-cola levels of secrecy around them ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Nowadays we have plenty of languages/formats not necessarily used for inter-human comminication.

I wonder what would some alien/far-future anthropologist make up about our culture based, for instance, on random snippet of XML

I don't like how PoE 2 does skill gems. I think you have too little opportunity for experimentation and choices (compared to PoE1, at least in campain).

Please console me by proving me wrong.

"Arcane" artstyle is really great reference for mini painting! It's basically all NMM and layering used in a smart way

It's relatively approachable, but satisfyingly deep and deeply satisfying.

Excellent ebb and flow of battle according to the day/night cycle, unique factions and quality content for days (years even).

Can't recommend it enough!

The Battle for Wesnoth

I kind assume everybody knows it, but just in case...

Battle for Wesnoth everybody!

Beautifully designed turn based tactics game.
(and it's open source ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Unrailed! is superb arcade-ish game.

Heave Ho is also excellent silly fun.

For something with a bit more substance maybe Mario Odyssey?

Isn't that like half of the twitter/tiktok "media analysis" to make big statements while not having even basic understanding of the subject matter?

Nowadays seems that not being able to write a good story/character just results in being given a bigger budget :(

Seems noone mentioned Witcher 3 yet.

So here, Witcher 3 did it.

True, but I also think that it is too broad a term "videogame addiction".

If someone can't stop playing LoL, that doesn't mean they shouldn't play, dunno, stardew valley or something.

One surely can have a problem with specific game, but I don't imagine someone addicted to videogames in general.

I assume it is a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem. With Steam you are apparently reaching a broader market ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

So there would need to be some assurance that the broader audience would migrate too.

I do admit I only did a short search, but I hope it helps:
- steam takes 100$ entry fee then 30% from sales
- epic also takes 100$ then 12%
- itch is free and then allows to configure split with default being 10%

Just surfacing the info here, hope it helps!

For instance (and I encourage you to correct me if Im mistaken) the nested tooltips system.

It recently became quite standard (for instance CK3 and TW WH3 have it); but AFAIK it got first introduced in "At the gates" - which currently scores "Mostly Negative" on steam.

While I appreciate the business context of the videogame industry Im saddened by how little we treat it as an art form.

Nobody argues a movie that sold a lot of tickets necessarily is a great movie.
Popular appeal does not equal pushing medium forward.

I also found that playing with a friend in a coop is a nice way to deal with feeling overwhelmed and the relatively tedious early-game.
