In Prison, She Changed Constitutional Law. Meet the Trans Woman Behind the Case. In Farmer v. Brennan, Dee Farmer paved the road for tens of thousands of people to sue the government for a wide range of prison and jail issues.

Dee Farmer filed suit in 1989 to stop the sexual and physical abuse she faced in prison. We took her case all the way to the Supreme Court, who unanimously ruled in her favor.

Tens of thousands of lawsuits have since cited the case when challenging cruel and unusual punishment in jails and prisons.

"No Kings Day" protests turn out millions Our unofficial estimate is that around 4 million people attended a protest event yesterday. Anti-Trump resistance is outpacing 2017.

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop!
