I try so hard but it's soo easy... But the jar is funding the boat so maybe it's ok?

Using this platform to document our sailing adventures. The boat is a 1990 CS34 that we spend as much time as possible on. Lived aboard full time and sailed to the Bahamas and back.

New Years Eve in the Bahamas. Amazing party at the bar on the beach. A fellow sailor spent the day gathering coconuts. They showed up with their dinghy full, several bottles of local rum and a power drill to provide the best drink ever.

We arrived at our anchorage in the dark and it wasn't until morning we truly appreciated where we were. Our first experience with blue Bahamas water! Went spear fishing and caught our first lobster. This made all of the effort to get here worth it!

We leave ridiculously early in the morning, sailing from Gin Sur Mer, Grand Bahamas to Great Harbour Cay, Berry Islands. Things picked up and made a last minute decision to change anchorages to the East side because of the changing winds. It was a bouncy race with the sunset.
29-Dec-2023
After checking in we did a short hop over to an abandoned resort, Gin Sur Mer in Grand Bahamas. It was a beautiful ghost town and a calm anchorage to stay the night.
27-Dec-2023
We made it to the Bahamas! Checked in at the West End in Grand Bahamas. After waiting for the bright yellow office to open we were quickly checked in. Ordered a fresh and tasty bowl of Conch Salad. A bit expensive at $10 but very tasty!

We are convinced by another sailor to leave West Palm early that night with plenty of buffer to arrive in the Bahamas. We realize we left way too early and slow right down after crossing Gulf Stream. Still way too early and ended up anchoring until daylight. It was a good lesson.
26-Dec-2023
We have a weather window! The wind is dying down and shifted to a favourable North direction. Debating on the exact time to leave we decide on an overnight passage to arrive at first light. (Foreshadow, we didn't trust our own judgement and listened to the wrong people)
26-Dec-2023
It has been almost a month stuck in Palm Beach. We made the best of it, and met a lot of other sailors in the same boat π₯. Amazing Christmas BBQ potluck dinner on Peanut Island with some new lifelong friends. It was a windy, wet ride back to our boat.
25-Dec-2023
Our anchor did amazing in the storm that night. We made the best of it by collecting rain water and decorating the boat for Christmas.
17-Dec-2023
With the nasty weather we moved to a more isolated spot to ride out the storm. We were happy we did! That night, winds picked up and the VHF radio was active with people calling for help with other boats dragging into each other. One boat ended up washed up on the beach.
16-Dec-2023
And more bad weather. The anchorage is filling up with other sailboats all waiting for a good weather window to cross to the Bahamas. We are feeling smaller and smaller next to some of these huge yachts!
13-Dec-2023
The weather hates us. Still stuck in West Palm, FL. During bad weather we go crazy stuck on the boat. On good days we explore. Here's some pictures from Peanut Island.
10-Dec-2023
Well things didn't go as planned. The weather didn't cooperate and we are stuck in West Palm, FL. We make the best of it by exploring, shopping and doing our laundry.
5-Dec-2023
We pay to use the dinghy dock at the West Palm Beach Sailing Club and rent a car to go shopping. Attempting to fill the boat with enough food and beer for the next couple of months in the Bahamas.
2-Dec-2023
We arrive in West Palm, FL and experience the largest mooring field we've seen! Unfamiliar with the area, we rent a mooring from one of the locals.
Next is reprovision and get ready for next weather window to cross the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas!
1-Dec-2023
As we pass through Jupiter, FL it feels like neighborhood streets made of water where every house has an expensive boat parked out front. The water turned a beautiful shade of blue!
30-Nov-2023
Reminder to watch out for crab pots in the water when we start up for the day.
30-Nov-2023
Found some space, weather and depth to sail today. Went all day and anchored when we got tired. Not a great spot but weather was calm and we were well out of the channel.
South of Cape Canaveral.

Realizing that "sailing" down the ICW to the Bahamas doesn't really allow l many options for sailing. Other than our outside passages where we go on open Atlantic to bypass the ICW we have been motoring the whole time. We are getting tired of it now, pushing South!
25-Nov-2023
We squeeze into a packed marina in Palm Coast, FL. Not many options for anchoring on the ICW in this area. But this meant unlimited hot water showers and laundry. It was a bit strange, lots of boats but nobody around.
25-Nov-2023
It can't be sunny and beautiful all the time. A little bit of rain reminds you how nice the sun is and you appreciate it more.
We continue our journey South, anxious to get to West Palm Beach so we can reprovision (pack as much food into the boat as possible) before our crossing.
24-Nov-2023
We spent a few days exploring the beautiful and interesting St. Augustine. Loved the narrow walking streets and we may have stopped at one or two bars.
23-Nov-2023
After a rough night at anchor we decided to upgrade our ground tackle. Almost tripled our chain length. Thanks to the Sailors Exchange in St. Augustine for the great deal!
21-Nov-2023
For those of you that have seen anchor alarms before this should tell a story. A story where we got caught in a current and wrapped our keel twice. We immediately went to a mooring ball in St. Augustine and happily paid the fee!
21-Nov-2023
We make it to Vilano Beach, FL in time to watch the sunset from the bar. Anchored near bridge and used our dinghy to get to the dock in the picture. A quick walk around the area and it now feels like we are in Florida for the first time. And we found a nice grocery store to resupply!
20-Nov-2023
After a sleepless night in shallow water near Clapboard Creek we move to a less protected but deeper anchorage on the St. John's River East of Jacksonville, FL. Still learning and getting used to anchoring in these currents. These days it's a push to go South as quickly as possible.
20-Nov-2024
Our boat looks so lonely anchored by herself off Cumberland Island. Makes me a bit nervous, why isn't anyone else anchored there? Do they know something we don't know?
19-Nov-2023
We explore the Dungeness Mansion Ruins on Cumberland Island, Georgia. Lots of interesting history how a town was formed on the island to support the mansion. Great hiking trails, wild horses and beautiful beaches. Also saw our first armadillo!
