15th century sewage pipes set among timbers on the Thames Foreshore at low tide. One long pipe to the front of the photo and one set further back. These were made of elm & also used as boundary markers.
Close up of the gaping mouth of one of the 15th century sewage pipes, now covered in algae. Much of this pipe is visible while its partner sewage pipe is buried under gravel and stones.
The Thames always comes up with the perfect metaphor for the state of everything right now. So please enjoy these stunning 15th/16th century sewage pipes. Made of elm & preserved by the tides, these would have once deposited the shit & piss of medieval & post medieval Londoners into the Thames 1/

If you're looking for a Google Maps or Apple Maps replacement, check out Organic Maps. It uses OpenStreetMap data, which captured the official name change for Gulf of America but continues to recognize that the vast majority of English-speaking people call it Gulf of Mexico.
Also it works offline.

Yes I heard that too! These days they can lift buildings wholesale and move them but I think that one was demolished and a new one (the present one) built. It looks taller than the one before but maybe it's a bit less wide. I'd love to see pics of what it looked like inside.
