14.03.2025 01:48 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Finished unpicking after two days and finally felt human enough to sew it back on. Shortened length and height, now it fits great! This was leftover @stylemakerfabrics.bsky.social fabric from another project that I’ve cut but haven’t sewed yet.
14.03.2025 01:38 — 👍 7 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0Unpicking! Sewed this neckline too big a week ago, and then managed to get shingles 😫. Now that I can sit for longer periods, I’m unpicking it. Damn my use of a tiny zigzag stitch and matching thread! At least I’m now outside. ☺️ #garmentsewing #sewsky

10.03.2025 21:11 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Anyone else chaos sew for a pick-me-up? Leftover fabric (from Lyrical), cut front/back at the same time with no real pattern, used elastic waistband instead of cuffs b/c why not. Didn’t finish seams, barely cut threads, refused to unpick mistakes. Just what I needed. 😄 #chaossewing #sewsky

11.02.2025 23:36 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0it’s so worth learning!! there are definitely some easier patterns/skills to start with, and some much much harder. start easy so you don’t get discouraged and find a local teacher if possible for basic machine use. youtube has tons of resources too. you can do it!!

Sewed a quick dupe of a rtw sweater that fit me well out of this gorgeous warm Mind The Maker knit. F’d up and made the collar too big so I hacked it by sewing down the sides and I really love how it lays now! #sewsky #garmentsewing #sewist

04.02.2025 22:15 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Thank you! The tie threaded pretty easily with a big safety pin. The tricky part (since I self drafted) was figuring out how to create the channel and opening at the side seam, but i think it worked!

Recovering from a cold & fibro flare, but can’t stop thinking about this project. I want a dress with a top that hangs over a tie waist.
1st attempt last week had no hang, and side tie irritated my hand sprain.
V2: split the front so that I can tie it, & add volume/length. Maybe today?
I definitely see why you bought it - it’s cute and bold! But I also see why it’s not for your wardrobe. Destash time! fabric swaps are great for this - or donate to a reuse store near you? I also think @nachoanns.bsky.social accepts small donations, if you don’t mind paying for shipping.
02.02.2025 18:24 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hi! I’m Jillian from San Jose, CA, and I’ve been learning to sew for a couple years. I work full time and have fibro so it’s slow going, but enjoying the process. I’m petite and plus size, so a lot of my journey has been more about size adjustments than techniques.
30.01.2025 23:12 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Congrats on diving in! I’m not near Milwaukee, but depending on the pattern another option might be to get sheets from a thrift store. great practice fabric. but fabric shopping is magical so I hope you find a great spot!!
