✨Sewing & crafting to keep The Horrors™️ at bay. ✨New and upcycled clothing. ✨Curious about mending and slow fashion. ✨Also, a sprinkle of art, history, and librarian content.

A flyer for a set of documents "Demonstrating the value of cataloging". Six folders are labeled "talking points for administrators, top 5 reasons why you need a cataloger, annotated bibliography, resources list & acronym cheat sheet, side-by-side comparisons of good administrators bad metadata, and introduction to metadata zine. At the bottom text reads you can find these resources at the link in the post, and they were created by the ALA SAC Devaluation of Cataloging Working Group, 2025.

Could you use help explaining the value of #cataloging & good metadata to your admin, coworkers, #MLIS students, etc.? Happy to share this set of resources put together by an ALA working group chaired by @magsjoy.bsky.social. All of these & more are available at hdl.handle.net/11213/22872. 📚

I’ve been looking longingly at the dress I’d rather be sewing this morning… but I must get ready for work. 😩 #sewsky

just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.

This Day in Labor History: March 25, 1911. 146 workers at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City died when the building in which they worked caught on fire. Let's talk about the horrors of the Triangle Fire, what changed, and what remains the same 114 years later (mostly it's all the same)

Building inspectors fined them for lining up the sewing machines so close that “the girls when seated would have no space to move about or leave their places without all getting up together.”

Photo of a woman wearing a black and red checkered blouse. The blouse has short baggy sleeves and is cropped enough to show her belly button. She is facing the camera. A cartoon sun covers her face for privacy.

I finished my Liza top from @taukomagazine.bsky.social Issue no. 2. Not bad for my first top! Sometimes I regret not sewing clothes sooner, but I remind myself I learned to sew as a teen and back then I NEVER would’ve had the patience to make stuff like this. Better late than never!

Here is one of my makes from a few months back — a sage green gingham tote bag ft. @jackalopejane.bsky.social ‘s “Trans Rights” patch (I made it into a pocket!). Check out their patches!

The following information is presented upon an antique postcard, which has images of blue flowers and green clover. Meet the Sewist. My name is Rebecca. My pronouns are she/her. I’m queer. I’m a librarian by day and a sewist by night. I like cats, tea, fashion, audiobooks, floral design, period dramas, stickers, being cringe, and the ocean. I dislike cutting out patterns, hot weather, public speaking, strong smells, and math.
