I appreciate all the people showing love and support to me. I’m so grateful honestly. It means a lot. The ban isn’t that big of a deal for me. I think it was wrong and the explanation was bullshit. But that’s ok and I accept. Social media comes and goes. I’m grateful for all the connections I was able to make and all the people I get to be connected with off Bluesky. More importantly, the world needs more people to give a fuck. More people to give a fuck about Palestinians, more people to give a fuck about disabled folks, more people to give a fuck about our queer and trans siblings, more people to give a fuck about Black liberation. The world, and Bluesky, is full of bootlickers who will do anything to avoid doing anything to upset the status quo. These people are cowards groveling to those in power in hopes of protection. I just hope people continue to show love and care and kindness. Mutual aid is so important. Give when you can, boost when you can. We only survive this together.

Walked out into the osmanthus scented backyard to pick some basil just as the full moon rose above the rooftops: a thing that also happened today.

And now it is October, a month in this hemisphere of beautiful decay, death, fog, crows. My ancestors marked their new year in this season of darkness, rain, and preparation for winter. It’s the way I’ve always experienced life: beginning in the dark. Loss and loneliness my unchosen teachers.

On the way home from work tonight, just as I rounded the bend into my darkened neighborhood, right under a single street lamp and just before the hood of my car, two owls, flying low…

This half-Aussie kid feels about toasted cheese and vegemite the way my middle school friends felt about a freshly-microwaved bowl of spaghetti-o’s after a long irritating day of school. It’s perfect comfort food if it’s your culture (and super upsetting if not!)

Tawny owl

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Ugh. I’m so sorry! I’ve just started my flasher/flashing years and while I’m thrilled that so far my sleep isn’t being disrupted, 8am to 3pm full body soaks at work, while running around a busy store and trying to look like I didn’t just fall into a commercial dishwasher, are gross.

Oh I am getting so very close to sending them out with the recycling! The alien baby bleeds are NOT IT.
