on the to do-list. Läxor is Swedish for homework, and it often ends up looking like pictured — the two figures are both yours truly. I think solitary striving has something to do with the rise of attention deficit diagnoses.

Thinking about Finland by the Mediterranean. Thinking about what it means to claim pacifism today. Thinking horizontal pics work better on this app, which turns my visual world if not upside down, 90 degrees from what I’ve been doing for the past years for the gram.

Yesterday I was hanging out with the Alpes-Maritimes seed diversity association. They arrange events such as pictured and advocate for peasant seeds (semences paysannes), a counterforce to biodiversity loss and the more superficial vibe here on the Riviera. Vive la France 🧅💋

I live in Nissa (in local language Nissart). One of the best things about living in Nissa is that it’s like living in France and Italy at the same time. I could upset some people by musing that in person, so I write it on the internet instead. Here are local, seasonal, organic veggies. 🦠

An organic garden vibe 🍊

For the record I am also completely unused to not being able to edit some spellings or add thoughts I had immediately after posting. 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋

Use the salted lemon rind, sliced off the bitter white part, finely cut on sashimi, in tabbouleh, and so many other dishes, creatively. Use the salted lemon juice for seasoning a mayonnaise, acting as both the acidic and the salty element in there.

Keep in a dark place, room temperature, for at least a month before using. Wait three months for even more complex aromas.

Lemons (preferably organic)
Rough sea salt (never iodized)
Sterile glass jar (just pour in a bit of freshly boiled water and swirl it around)

Cut the lemons in half, press the juices. Put one tablespoon of salt into each lemon half, pack into the jar and pour over the juice. Seal.

The trees in Provence are heavy with lemons and oranges. ‘Tis the season. Here’s an easy recipe for preserved lemons, apparently also known as leem or country lemons through history. The recipe is in the comments, because apparently the text space on this app is very limited. 🍋
