Haven't played 2 yet, but I expect the new version of that to feel more coherent. The first game is so much harder to sell to modern audiences without changing the core of it. Kinda wanted to see them try, though.

Otherwise the new version of Dragon Quest 1 is a bit lame. I get why they modernized it, but the things that worked with 3 mainly just make the first game feel less special. Basically they made some of the simple things needlessly complicated while trivializing some of the more demanding parts.

I'm not always a fan of the HD-2D look in these Dragon Quest remakes, but sometimes it hits pretty well.

After enjoying Avowed so much earlier this year, I obviously needed to give The Outer Worlds 2 a go as well. And it's kinda astonishing. They managed to make a game that is technically goofy as hell but somehow also extremely dry to play.

A lot of the business failures of the games industry are really rooted in this desire to create a product that dominates the market. The recent Amazon thing really highlights that: they wanted to create a product that outperformed Steam, but they didn't understand Steam or what the audience wanted.

Well, rolled credits in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. I'm glad that they're trying new and different things with these games, but after Arceus felt so refreshing, Z-A mainly manages to find all new ways for Pokémon games to be dull.

Hollow Knight: Silksong oli kuin olikin jälleen yksi tänä vuonna kovasti innostusta osakseen saanut peli, joka ei vaan onnistunut nappaamaan meikäläistä mukaansa. Paperilla taas kovin houkutteleva ja mielenkiintoinen, mutta käytännössä lähinnä muistutus, että asioiden leikkaaminen ei ole heikkoutta.
