Ramsey’s humanity shines through as he reminds us that priests aren’t perfect but fellow pilgrims, growing in faith alongside their congregations. It’s a vocation of both joy and vulnerability.

The book challenges priests to connect their ministry to the Church’s mission in the world. Ramsey insists the priest must reflect Christ to the world and the world’s needs back to the Church. A deeply incarnational vision of ministry.

Opposing the Assisted Dying Bill, isn’t about lacking compassion, it’s about affirming that life, especially at its twilight, is a sacred gift. I urge those in leader, to please consider the impact of their teachings and decisions around this difficult topic.

The Church’s role is to model compassion and hope, every single life is a testament to God’s love. As Christians, and those who are called to ministry, deep reflection is needed, how we can walk alongside the suffering and how we can embody Christ’s teachings.

For Christian’s death is not the end, but the start of eternal life with Christ. Whilst death is naturally frightening, hope comes from God’s promise of redemption and renewal (John 11:25)

Legalising assisted dying may intentionally pressure those who are vulnerable to choose death to avoid burdening other. Scripture challenges us to uphold dignity of every persons, ensuring they are valued (James 1:27). How do we create a culture of care when assisted dying is an option?

The Church of England affirms the importance of palliative care, walking alongside those who are suffering. Jesus calls us to serve the lease among (Matthew 25:49), emphasising care and compassion, not control over the timing of death.

In a broken world, suffering is inevitable, but Christ’s death in the cross shows us that suffering can be redemptive (Romans 8:28). For Christians, enduring hardship can deepen our dependence on God and draw us closer to Him, even in profound pain.

I can’t describe how sad I am about this assisted dying debate. Maybe because I sit with the dying in hospices and know what a good death can look like. I understand the feelings and views of the other side, I really do. But this legislation feels rushed and brutal to me.
