Our parents elders have so much to share: stories, life lessons, and experiences that connect us to our past. When we take the time to listen, we are all the richer for it.

So go ahead and speak to them. Capture their voices, their memories, their wisdom. It will be a deeply fulfilling experience.

He’s not one to open up personally or talk about himself voluntarily.

I truly believe we should all make the effort to interview β€” or at least record conversations with β€” our elders.

So come on brothers and sisters! Let’s aspire to a Ramadan where we can feel we improved on last year. Let us aim for a higher level Ramadan every year, by striving and yes – making extra effort during these 30- days.

This also means not overfilling ourselves with food during the night and eating moderately. We all know that overeating leads to lethargy in our worships and defeats one of the aims of fasting – which is to detach ourselves from this dunya – this world, with its glitter and glamour and indulgences.

3️⃣ The highest level of fasting: when we fulfil the requirements of the first and second level, but on top of that, we strive to pull our hearts away from yearning after the world and its affairs and all the thoughts that distance us away from Allah.

2️⃣ A higher level of fasting: to fulfill the first level and lower our gaze and prevent our tongues, hands, feet, hearing, eyes and the rest of our body parts from committing sinful acts.

🌟Steadily aim for a β€˜Level 3 Ramadanβ€™πŸŒŸ

According to the great scholar Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi, there are three levels of fasting:

1️⃣ The most basic level of fasting: Refraining from food, drink and sexual relations during the daytime. This is of course what the minimum requirement for our fast is.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Dear James
I love your show. You said in the context of the Abraham faiths that Muslims don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah. Actually, we DO believe that Jesus was the Messiah

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ πŸ“… 3. Take action:
Then I'll take action towards that solution immediately, or schedule in the actions I need to take immediately.

After that my mind feels lighter and I enjoy my day so much more! πŸ˜„ β˜•
Try it!
And do share your problem solving techniques too.

πŸ’‘ 2. Brainstorm possible solutions to that problem:
I'll write down the things that might or will improve or go towards solving the problem, even a little. Sometimes we don't know the solution but we know what the next possible steps might be or we know what might improve it by 1%.

✍ 1. Articulate the problem on paper:
By doing this sort of 'brain dump' I can cut the problem down to size and look at what the crux of the matter is. Sometimes this alone can be so useful because it helps me to see what the root of the issue and its components actually are.

PROBLEMS! One of the things that keeps me buoyant is that I don't allow problems that are bothering me to fester. I believe in facing them head on. So what is my approach to solving those niggling problems?
