no it's just racism the whole way down and mocking him for his lack of racism personally.

It would’ve been a lot stronger had they seen a way to get rid of the guy. They still don’t like him for the most part.

They would still have had to figure out how to deal with the RW gremlin problem but it would’ve been possible to make a break with those sorts.

This is pretty unambiguously true. The GOP wasn’t a totally dead organ outside of him yet

The cult wouldn’t have been solidified yet, everyone was still on the record of speaking out against him, and they weren’t getting primaried yet. He talks about replacing Yellen early with a lackey and does insane tariffs + the extrajudicial stuff, they’d be out for blood.

The most toxic journalistic bias is not corporate ownership or even deference to power. It is boredom. A reporter who has had to explain why X is a lie three times doesn’t want burn copy doing it again, and will rationalize omitting it on the grounds that β€œeveryone” knows by now.

That man would not have made it through half of a term if he had behaved like this back then.

Looking back on it now it would’ve been better for Trump 2016 to not have any handlers because he would be very close to impeachment right now were this 2017

"How long must the South kick us," shouted a stump speaker to a crowd of black-caped, torch-bearing Wisconsinites, "before we shall all be Wide-Awakes?"

Keynesianism is like Ozempic in that it's something that works but makes people mad because they want moral hazard to be involved

Without guiding institutions, some people will decay into the mess we're dealing with now. You need strong institutions to keep them under control.

ESPN Launches β€œThe Talk” Campaign to Promote Responsible Sports Betting ESPN is educating and protecting its audience as sports betting becomes more mainstream with a new responsible gaming campaign.

the data behind this kind of decision must show some incredibly dark stuff that they're trying to get ahead of

See I think there's a good point to be made here, and it was good to get rid of a lot of those old systems, but at the same time we've never fully figured out how to naturally get most everyone into new, better communities. We just got rid of the old ones.

I think the challenge here is that while it might just be vibes, vibes are the primary way people make these decisions and that’s not something that can be changed.

Historically, we had organizations like the media and political movements that had some kind of structure to help refine base desires into something productive. What we do now that those no longer work is unclear to me.

I think this whole situation is very emblematic of the real challenge of our moment. People say that liberal democracy is unresponsive to the demands of the people, but a great deal of the time the demands of the people change by the week and have no basis in reality.

A screenshot of a New York Times update that says: In Grand Central Terminal, Leon Chang, 26, of Brooklyn, said he had not heard of congestion pricing and asked what it was. When explained it was a toll for cars entering Manhattan, he then asked β€œWhat do you mean? What is a car?” Walking outside, we showed him a vehicle parked on the street. He gently touched the hood of the car. β€œYou wish to forbid these majestic beasts from entering the city,” he said in a wistful tone. β€œIt is a folly of man. The desire to tame the world around us.”

IPS is in dire need of serious reform. One of the things that is definitely fueling the continued existence of so many private schools in the Indianapolis metro is poor IPS performance

I think that this is one of the great challenges of the modern progressive movement. There is a lot of messaging that is maybe a couple decades out of step because it was designed for a world where substantially more legible oppression was within the living memory of adults.

This and fertility rates are the two issues that are both obviously important but 99.9% of people are incapable of being normal about. CHH is the unicorn who is able to thread the needle on each.
