I don’t know who needs to hear this, but calling a locally owned vintage clothing/ record store, as well as a clean af new & used bookstore “junk stores” to the literal face of proprietors is actually not the vibe of the future. The TLDR: is always that people will continue to break your heart and you must learn to stand up for yourself and then love again.

I think my overarching point is that we MUST steel ourselves against adversity NOW. Practice breaking w/ safe people. Learn to set boundaries and straight up tell someone to their face when they cause harm and how. Their reaction will tell you everything you need to know about how safe they are. 8/🎤

Everyone is physically safe. HOWEVER, I absolutely implore you to stay vigilant always & everywhere. Emotional harm matters & can be a precursor to physical harm. Learning to recognize who is & isn’t safe around community is dirty fucking work & it will almost certainly break you repeatedly. 7/?

Usually it’s just me crying alone after a shakedown, but today AGAIN many were affected, volunteer & customer alike. So in my fight or flight, I come to you to impart— not to process, not to heal. The battles are numerous & frequent, but I do not shy from the work, even when I’m SHAKING. 6/?

So yeah, I dunno. Today was one of those days. I’m SO grateful for the extra boost of support Lit. (it’s just me Jess 😭) has received from the organizing efforts of @zombaekillz.bsky.social @sageamethyst.rocks & SO many others. I’m also just SO sorry that now others have to bear this burden too. 5/?
