This is an old formula used by authoritarian regimes. Stoke chaos and blame scapegoats to justify the use of force.

It appears that the federal agents occupying Portland have people embedded with them charged with the task of producing stories presenting the government’s version of events. Ironically, this was the sort of work JD Vance did in Iraq before he decided he was against that war.

Might be good if ICE agents faced local law enforcement accountability for their lawless abuse of those the local cops are sworn to protect & serve

Two scary thoughts: first, he may well believe this. Second, if so, the reason is not just Fox et al. He has certainly talked about this with advisers who, apparently, have not told him he is wrong.

Liberals say that recent Supreme Court ruling have given the executive branch too much power. But they’re wrong, because the rulings only apply to Trump and will all be reversed when there’s a Democratic president.
