The replies to this post, even on here, even moreso on X, are so depressing to me. We live in a world where cities have never been safer and a minority of people are denying themselves a lot of delightful experiences because theyβve gone mad online.

Trumpβs Big Beautiful Bill Will Deepen Inequality
Donald Trumpβs Big Beautiful Bill is an ugly policy that will punish the poorest, worsen inequality, and blow up the national debt.
"The Yale analysts estimate that the poorest fifth of households will lose 2.5% of their income, or $600 at current levels, while the richest fifth will gain 2.4%, or $6,495. The top 0.1 percent, with incomes over $3 million, will gain $97,260."

Extremely this. Most colleges are not the fancy elite ones, the vast majority serve our local populations. The discourse ignores us completely.

They certainly donβt believe it. It is an ideological ploy to get non-experts to believe it. Theyβve been doing this for decades, eg Reaganβs βwelfare queen.β Ideology is the key means by which a leader/party maintains support while passing legislation contrary to peopleβs interests.

Senate Republicans are calling to cut Medicaid and CHIP by over $1 trillion, growing to an 18% cut by 2034.
This would be at least four times the size of the largest Medicaid cut in history.
