As badly as Musk gets verifiable facts wrong, I can't fathom how so many people trust his unverifiable claims about cutting waste, fraud, and abuse in the government.

7/ And if it leads to an economic slowdown when the Republicans control all branches of government, they'll have a hard time defending their record in next year's midterms.

6/ On the positive side, an extended corporate boycott will have side benefits for us and for our planet.

5/ It's possible we can bring about real change, but it will take months or years of concerted effort and real personal sacrifice.

4/ The Montgomery bus boycott lasted more than a year, and that was just to get concessions from one public transit service in one city. Getting transnational corporations to change their ways will be much more difficult.

3/ It's going to take at least a three-to-six-month sustained effort before most corporations even notice something is happening. To bring about real change will take longer than that.

2/ Especially if it means just shifting spending by delaying purchases by a day or a week. That's not going to dent their profits at all.

1/ The one-day economic blackout was a good start, but it's not nearly enough to make a real difference. Corporations that measure their income by quarter won't notice a 1-day dip.
