My favourite memory of first class with a second class young person’s ticket was travelling home one snowy Christmas Eve in 1981. Two trains were combined and we people from the cancelled one had to get off and get on the other one. First class was only option. No declassification, no ticket checks

Yesterday I attended a tea party for a 70th wedding anniversary. In a world with so much sorrow it was special to celebrate this lovely couple, their family and a long life together. I haven’t stopped smiling since.

Years ago tube strikes led me to find routes to walk / cycle between Kings Cross and Westminster. After that most Mondays I cycled to parliament.

I guess my point is that when dealing with an ethics issue it’s unlikely that someone who resigned over an ethics issue would be appointed.

Don’t forget the loyal MPs who suddenly find what they have defended is no longer policy. Too many U turns too quickly undermine support in the long term. If there hadn’t been a U turn on winter fuel, there wouldn’t be so many threatening votes against now.

I’m loving this. Worked in Bassetlaw in early 90s. The school in Harworth was called North Border.

I think the ability to publish ideas on partisan websites leads to less well developed policies. Previously ideas developed through publication of pamphlets followed by conferences/ discussions and then improvements. Now write an article, comments and then onto the next idea. Quicker, less thorough.

on Monday afternoon, I took a parcel to the post office with a tracked label to go to a business less than 5 miles away. It arrived today Thursday having been to Preston and Leeds before returning to the local distribution office. Next time I will drive the 5 miles and drop the parcel off!

I woke up early this morning fully intending to work out how to solve the complex situation I’d been dreaming about (which of course doesn’t exist in real life) but I knew I would do better if I solved it when awake. Realised quickly how mad that was.

Most people think that only Napoleon was exiled to St. Helena, it was fascinating to learn about the others including these prisoners, also the Bahraini prisoners. We visited the cemetery where Boer war PoWs are buried.

That’s exactly what I thought. I saw another “sounds like” mistake yesterday. Life imitating art.
