Trump nominee says MLK Jr. holiday belongs in ‘hell’ and that he has ‘Nazi streak,’ according to texts Paul Ingrassia’s bid to lead a whistleblower agency is set for a Senate confirmation hearing Thursday.

Hard to believe the Trump administration's war on higher education is about fighting anti-semitism with nominees like Paul Ingrassia, who apparently texted, "“I do have a Nazi streak in me from time to time, I will admit it.”

They've since withdrawn his nomination.

Refusing authoritarianism: why California’s Proposition 50 is necessary but not sufficient Democrats have no choice but to fight back against mid-decade redistricting which could render US House elections meaningless. But let's be clear: our winner-take-all system is hopelessly broken

"Proportional voting methods are used in most of the established democracies around the world... [and] generally results in... more choice for voters. With more choice, more voters actually participate and turnout is generally much higher."

America doesn't need a president.

We need a council of governors collaborating. We need proportional representation. We need structures that teach, encourage, and incentivize civic engagement. We need corporate money out of politics. We need publicly funded campaigns.

Bruce Springsteen recently called for a new political party in the U.S.—he’s right, but the wasted vote problem keeps third parties from being meaningful. Breaking the two-party doom loop means creating a multiparty, positive-sum system where new leaders can thrive.

Gov. Newsom’s gerrymander gambit: Why California needs proportional representation Let’s stop drawing lines to win. Let’s start designing systems to represent.

"There’s a better way. It’s called #ProportionalRepresentation... This system would dramatically reduce the power of gerrymandering... is already used in 130 countries... and [is] especially relevant for California."

Proportional Representation is the radical idea that a party that gets 30% of the vote should never have 100% of the power.

In most stable democracies, this is already obvious. Why not here?

Why are both GDP *and* unemployment up so much? AI increasing productivity.

Why isn't this reducing inflation? Tariffs and immigration restrictions.

With the government shutdown "preventing" the jobs report, investors are predictably turning to private alternatives.

And predictably, they are *confirming* the weakening labor market that led Trump to fire Erika McEntarfar at BLS.

Proportional representation for a less polarizing multi-party system that includes more voices.

Nonrenewable fixed terms for SCOTUS justices confirmed by 2/3 of the Senate.

Repeal 17th Amendment so the Senate acts like the German upper chamber and defends state rights against federal encroachment.

Cool. But maybe… just maybe… we should also fix a system that ignores most voters.

Start with #ProportionalRepresentation.

Good.

Countries with more politically independent central banks see less inflation because fighting inflation requires politically unpopular moves (i.e., raising taxes, cutting spending, raising interest rates).
