2025 is the year to focus on your writing, to get words down on the page, to read and absorb, to live, to pay attention, to finish things and then crumple them up and go back to the drawing board, to keep trying over and over and over again.

I’m only 13 years late, but as a millennial woman, I think Girls is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. πŸ“Ί

I'm in the process of closing the book on 20ish years of Facebook/Instagram history. Downloading all my photos is taking time, but this feels like the ultimate clean slate. Tabula rasa! I'm excited for a much freer future.

A Reminder from Smaller Beings
The bird building her home on your windowsill
has had every nest destroyed before.

The spider that is delicately weaving a silken masterpiece
has had every single thread broken before.

And despite it all,
they try again.

Poem by Nikita Gill

β€œUnforgivable”

The world wasn’t ready, and I’m unsure why.

Why are women such a burden when they carry the lives of every man?

Why are immigrants a problem when their sweat seasons the food at our tables?

How can unborn children be championed while we mourn the ones butchered by bullets?

That’s when they say β€œthe economy.”

As if the bloated pockets of billionaires aren’t culpable for starving their families.

As if those powerful white men aren’t putting their own greed above the people’s needs.

Is the value of a human life equal to the dollars extra spent on eggs?

Could you watch your wife or sister bleed out to afford that gas for your annual beach trip?

I know that the purchases you make are visible, tangible, and unavoidable.
And I know in hard times your privilege feels invisible, negligible, and unbelievable.

But to count your pennies
as mothers are ripped open by poisoned fetuses,
babies are ripped away by uniformed officers,
and students are ripped apart by rounds of lead…

that is unforgivable.
