In un momento così buio, è fondamentale rafforzare le nostre reti di solidarietà e resistenza.

Questa svolta a destra non fermerà Farage – che su questo terreno è molto più credibile – né riconquisterà la fiducia dell’elettorato progressista, ormai disilluso e in fuga.

Ma è il linguaggio a colpire ancora di più: toni disonesti, allusioni inquietanti e slogan copiati da Boris Johnson.
Starmer ha parlato dell’immigrazione come di un “capitolo squallido della nostra politica”, riecheggiando il discorso razzista di Enoch Powell del 1968.

Legittima le posizioni dell’estrema destra, e tradisce chi ha creduto in un Regno Unito aperto e inclusivo. Il nuovo libro bianco sull’immigrazione propone misure drastiche: abolizione dei visti per badanti, soglie salariali più alte per un visto di lavoro, tempi raddoppiati per la cittadinanza.

Il titolo del Daily Mail di ieri dice tutto.

La risposta del governo Starmer alla vittoria di Farage nelle elezioni locali in Inghilterra della scorsa settimana è una resa politica e morale: miope, dannosa e in netto contrasto con i valori del suo stesso elettorato.

Questo Sabato a Londra, Manchester, Glasgow e via zoom. Un incontro per gli Italiani in UK per informarsi sui referendum su cui voteremo il mese prossimo. Passaparola!

10- per diffondere le ragioni del SI ai referendum che si terranno la prossima primavera. C’è bisogno di unire le forze e iniziare un percorso di divulgazione e informazione.

9 - Pertanto, invitiamo tutte le realtà organizzate delle comunità italiane nelle isole britanniche e i cittadini e le cittadine italiane che hanno a cuore i temi del lavoro e della cittadinanza a costruire insieme un grande comitato plurale

8- temi che sono anche alla base della questione migratoria degli 1,2 milioni di italiani emigrati nell’ultimo decennio, un dibattito che coinvolga e valorizzi il contributo delle comunità italiane all'estero.

7- Per tutte queste ragioni per il Manifesto di Londra questa campagna offre l'opportunità non tanto e non solo di articolare le ragioni dei nostri SI ma anche e soprattutto quella di aprire un dibattito pubblico informato su questi temi fondamentali

6- Al contempo, vivere nel Regno Unito ci ha spesso fatto riflettere sul senso della nostra cittadinanza e per molti di noi anche sul senso di acquisire quella britannica nel contributo quotidiano che diamo al Paese in cui viviamo.

5- : un contesto di contratti precari, salari alla soglia dello sfruttamento, e scarsa sicurezza sul luogo di lavoro e dunque, la mancanza di reali opportunità di crescita professionale e personale.
